 Ho there,

So I have come back to Dragon Age: Origins to play new playthroughs to prepare for the Dragon Age: Inquisition this fall, but starting from yesterday my game cannot connect to the EA server. At all.

I am playing the game using the Origins client, and though I can sync my save with the cloud using Origins manually, everytime I start playing DA:O my computer just disconnects from the internet. Whenever I minimize DA:O and check my desktop, my internet is totally disconnected. During this time, I am also disconnected from the EA server ingame, when I click the button "Logged Out" I get the message "EA Servers are no longer available".

All these happen whenever I play DA:O since yesterday.

However, when I exit the game everything is back to normal. Internet is reconnected, I can use my browser normally.
This disconnection problem only happens when I play DA:O. All other non-EA/non-BioWaregames (such as StarCraft II, Guild Wars 2~) play normal and cause no problem. Therefore, I suspect this is an issue related to EA's server.

Please help.

If I had to guess-and it is only a guess-I'd imagine EA has shut down the server that provided online support for Dragon Age Origins. The reason that I think that is I can no longer manage my characters at my profile-and they did something similar with NFL HC 09 after 4-6 years. Origins is about in the time period where I think you can expect online support to be shut down. I'd like to think we'd get confirmation from Bioware soon-but maybe not.

There must be something else going on. Servers becoming unavailable does not shut down the connectivity of a computer, but losing connectivity certainly makes servers unavailable.

Do you have any accessories running that put the computer into 'game mode' when certain programs are started? What happens if you execute DAOrigins.EXE directly, or if you execute a copy of that file (in the same place but with a different name)? This is a question for the help/support forums, I guess.

That said, things must have been going on (or wrong) with the DA:O servers. The characters in my profile haven't been updated since last month although the achievements have been.

If they shut down DA:O support even further - now, in the run-up to DA:I - then they would be shooting themselves in the foot.

strangely, it seems to be quiet today.

I have resumed playing and everything is back to normal. Logged in, connected to the Origins, all good. I wonder what happened yesterday, though~~must be something on the EA's end. Something to do with the server assault last year, maybe?

I'm having trouble as well. I've only created this account a couple of days ago; I've managed to import my achievements, but my characters don't show up even though I've created new saves. I don't mind **too much** as I've found an avatar I can live with, but I'd still like to have my own mug on the forum...
