If you don't know much about it, it's one of multiple space simulators coming out (No Man's Sky and Elite: Dangerous as well) brought to you by Chris Roberts, the man behind Wing Commander and such.
As of right now, there are multiple ship packages you can buy and you can get the Hangar Module (excluding the cheapest package) with the Dogfight module hopefully coming out presumably in April 2014, with the final release in 2015. If you're talented enough, you can even design your own ship to send in to the developers and if they like it, you can sell it.
It features Squadron 42 as it's single player campaign, but the main point being the open world multiplayer aspect in which players can affect the galaxy as they know it.

but if that's not your thing, change outfits and you can turn into a cleanshaven man with hair
