I remember him and didn't like him in DA:O, same as I didn't like Ashley Williams in ME.  I thought, great, he's in Kirkwall when I saw him in DA2.  I have no problem with him in DA:I.  Same as I didn't have a problem with Ash in ME3.  That doesn't mean he'll go any where with me anymore than all Ash did was sit on the Normandy if I let her live pass the Citadel coup.

If I'm given that type of option for Cullen, he's a goner.

Why is everyone so sure that just because we have a Seeker of the Chantry, we can't have a templar? In DA2 we learn from Varic that the templars have broken from the Chantry and we know (from the dragon age cartoon) that the seekers and the templars don't always agree.

I am not a big fan of templars or Cullen, but he was one of the more reasonable templars. So personaly I wouldn't mind to see how he and Cassanda would get along.

The Seekers have broken from the Chantry too and We don't know where Cassandra's loyalties are. She is joining a group that was described as being in oposition to the chantry after all. Not that I think you will be automatically anti chantry you are just kind of taking authority away from them and Cassandra will be helping you do that.

I have a feeling that if Cullen is a companion he will still be pro chantry and anti red templar. DA2 had several pro chantry/pro templar characters though so you are right that cassandra being in it doesn't make it less likely for Culleen.

Funny I never really understood all the Cullen love either but I recently played DAO again and ran into Cullen for the first time in the Mage tower. He kinda fumbled over his words and was obviously not the "big mean Templar" stereotype that the rest are. He also seems to be easily flustered by women and what they represent which was also carried over to him in DA2. It makes him very charming, sweet and non-threatening but at the same time we see him as being the "knight in shining armour" which can really have a special affect on many women.

Oh, I'm not sure at all. I'm just not putting any hopes on it because of that. As said last post, the argument could be made that due to the majority of Templars and Seekers breaking off from the Chantry, they are now their own faction and thus have differing views from those who stayed loyal to the Chantry, such as Cassandra.

I find it amusing that there are more threads made by people that ask why so many people like Cullen than threads made by Cullen fans.

Well, we have our own thread. 10% squeeing, 90% serious discussion. Or 80% serious discussion, 10% silly nonsense because we're bored and are as anxious for the game to come out as everyone else.

I know but a thread asking "why do so many like Cullen" is posted every week or two, I find it funny.

Maybe they don't realize that by creating new Cullen threads, they're actually giving him more air time? It's like they say, "no publicity is bad publicity". By keeping this discussion with Cullen top-of-mind, they're actually hurting their own cause. Not that I would dream of complaining. By all means, I hope they continue.

Maybe, somewhere in the deepest recesses of their hearts, they really just want us Cullen fans to be happy. Image IPBImage IPB

There are (at least) two main templar groups: Lambert's faction of Seekers and templars who defected from the Chantry with the dissolution of the Nevarran Accord, and Justina's sect of Seekers and templars who remain with the Chantry of Andraste. I suppose Cullen could be alligned with either one.

Well I created the thread for my own convienence. Didn't feel like sitting through all the responses on the "offical" Cullen threads. I also wanted to give my own personal opinion without it being disregarded by the overwhelming amount of replies generated by the offical threads.

^ And I thank you for it, kindly! Image IPB

P.S., I was speaking generally. I didn't mean to imply that you were who I was referring to.

But my point about publicity still rings true. By there being so much attention to him, it causes others to wonder what they're missing, and look into it. Or hate it. Or bellyache about it. Or squee about it. Thus, a phenomenon is born.

My comment wasn't meant to be against you personaly op. It's just what I noticed happened frequently on the BSN, like a riddle that needs an answer.

It's all good guys I know your statements are general. I'm glad to see the discussion thus far has been mostly positive and mature. More opinions are always welcome!

I liked Cullen. Though I never remembered him from Origins, he felt like a nice counterweight to Meredith in the end of Dragon Age II, what with all the other Templars just simply standing there. I wouldn't mind seeing him return in Inquisition, if it serves the story I right.
And though I doubt we'll see him as a Templar, if he does make an appearance, I like the idea of having a Templar come along with me. I like Templars, except for that awful woman whose name is Meredith.

Uh....No. For the vast majority of Cullens time in DA2 he was one of the most prejudice men in the game. His philosophy was that every single mage, child or adult, was an insanely dangerous risk to the world that should be imprisoned and treated rather harshly, it was only after this mass murder and horrible treatment of the mages in the later years of the game that he began to second guess not his beliefs but how Meredith was running things. He never clearly said that he now sees mages in a different light, only that Meredith was wrong to be THAT.

I really hope that as the head of the Inquisiton we can be all knowing to most of the events in DA2, so as a Mage if Cullen does come into the game, I can treat him like absolute Shiet.

Really? Meredith is the onlky one you hated? What about Mr. "I'll use Tranquility to make my own harem of sex slaves" Alrik?

Oh right, kind of forgot about that. It's been some time since I played, admittedly.^_^

@TheLittleBird: No worries. I was just curious why he wasn't mentioned over Meredith.

@Alaric: I wonder if Shale will be in Inquisition. I mean, she hails from House Cadash just like the Dwarven Inquisitor, so that could have some interesting dialogue.

Tbh I hope that Cullen is a compulsory LI for every character and half the game is spent on making him dinner, cleaning his house, polishing his armour and listening to him bang on about the dangers of magic. B)
