It may be 2014, but according to the news I watched this morning...2015 is where it's at because Nike is going to introduce "Self Tying Shoes" similar to the ones from back to the future movies. Marty Mcfly could not be prouder that in the movie these shoes were said to be from the year 2015 and indeed in 2015 they will become a reality... lulz.

Maybe these non headbutting krogan can now headbutt because they won't be too busy tying their shoes?

It's pure affection and a burst of lust about the combat that is going to happen. In short: You just faced a happy Krogan.
