If companions are "playersexual" I hope it will be a different path for each sex.

What I mean is I hope the romance will play out differently if you are a man or a women. It is kinda annoying when the only difference is the personal pronoun used in conversations. It would also greatly increase replayability and give you an incentive to play the game through as the other sex.
Given at least part of the reason for this is to save resources, I wouldn't count on it.

Race should play a large role in how the romance plays out, but gender really shouldn't. It may be hard for a lot of people to believe, but except for physical differences gender really doesn't change all that much when it comes to relationships.
Babies. I want to be able to talk babies T_T

Basically you don't want the original ME3 ending, where all there is is a different shade of color. You want to expanded version. I got ya. The only problem I see is people complaining how one version of the romance with said character is better then the other. Could get out of hand.

I would rather have the "one size fits all" scene than feel like I'm being marginalized even more than usual when playing a female character and/or same sex romance.

I personally prefer when sex plays no role whatsoever in my character development and story. Imo players sex shouldn't effect the game anymore than the players face made with character creator, it's just a cosmetic thing.

Reactivity is great, in all forms. What I don't get is placing gender at the top of the list. I mean, sure, a romance with a guy might differ slightly from one with a girl. It's all good. But compare it with a romance between a templar and a blood mage contra two templars? Or one with a human and an elf?
Gender must be at the bottom of that list... Right..? If not, then why?

Because sexual differences are a real-world thing which people feel very strongly about. (Note that homophobia has been mentioned in this topic already despite it having nothing to do with the OP.)Commander Kurt wrote...

Some people aren't willing to accept that gender roles might be different in the fantasy world of Thedas; or - leaving world and story aside for a moment - that there are practical reasons for making certain writing decisions so that content can be included which otherwise *would not feature at all*.
And of course, while some people are trying to add constructively to the debate, others just want to make a fuss and complain about something - such is the way of Internet forums!

One size fits all is nice.
kinda.not.really.on.topic.
DA2 more or less did a Great(!) job id say with actualy making gender pretty much a moot point Over all, it felt like that extended to the romance part also, So it didnt really feel like an illusion it actaully carried over anything in the game.
The character you romanced had a story and that story wasnt nudged cause of your gender just like anything or anyone in that game.
Characters reacted in different ways towards gender in orgins some didnt care and some are reliant on that to have Interactions with you at all or determine how they shouldnt talk with you, that kind of made gender feel like Almost a bad part of the game to me...almost
Anyway small mentions of gender and whatever are cool and it being over the top would be annoying(to me).

Easiest to do, I think anyway. Personally, I feel there might not be any reactivity at all in this game so I aim low to keep my expectations reasonable.

Yeah, Isabela I know has completely different dialogue for FemHawke than she does BroHawke in the romance scenes. Now most of the dialogue is the same from them, but that's true of the whole game and not just the romance subplots.karushna5 wrote...
They already did in DAII it was subtle but absolutely there, I dont want a completely different path, that makes no sense
You also get some different dialogues in the Fenris romance with a male or female Hawke. Fenris seemed to be the opposite of Anders in that he only discusses his relationship history (if vaguely) with a female Hawke. And there's some dialogues that male Hawke can use that reference that they're both men. And gender aside, obviously the romance doesn't go exactly the same depending on how you play. But yeah, even beyond very romance specific dialogue, there's already a lot of branching variation going on depending on circumstance and Hawke's class.
