After my third 360 died I gave up on the XBOX.

I have a good PC now anyway. I have no need for a 360. Halo and Gears of War don't interest me.

My current xbox's fan has been running hard ever since I fixed my Open Tray error but it has yet to die on me. Hopefully it will continue to not die on me.

Though the open tray error is back.

If it makes you feel any better, I might be in the same boat as you soon. This will be my 3rd RROD. I swear I'd go back to pc gaming if I didn't have to spend $150 upgrading my computer every time a new game comes out.

Yeah. Buy a gpu for the price you pay for a XBOX and your set to game on.

I had one die. Tried the towel trick. Luckily at the time I had holiday cash/credit card to get one with a slightly better cooling system.

To that, I have not touched my box for weeks... praying it won't go overheated. When I do play, its like an hour at a time

And that's why PC gaming is epicness incarnate.

VelcroT, stop spending 150 each time, save up and buy a good one that lasts 3-4 years.

TBH a decent dual core, 4 gigs of ram, a 8800GTS (or better, GTX2xx series, they aren't that expensive tbh) with a cheap motherboard in a cheap gamer case (for cooling obviously, not for the fancy stuff) will get you a long way.

Don't need a fancy gamer mouse, gamer keyboard, dual monitor, epic sound system and whatnot, those are luxery.

QFT

as for the motherboard, I recommend getting an ASUS with 775 (for core 2 Duo or corre 2 quad) they are real cheap now since the i5/i7's came out, and are great quality wise. i have a P5Q, but a P5QPL-AM is real cheap and supports all latest graphics cards and DDR2 ram up to 1066 MHz speed. I recommend at least 2 GB of ram and a 512 MB graphics card (you could get a 9600 GT they're dirt cheap and run real nice, at least the ASUS one I had until i got a GTX260 did) as for processor, get an E8400 or something like that reeeeal nice Intel and OC's like you wouldn't believe, even with stock cooler (I got mine at 3.87 GHz and it won't go over 41º C) and get a cheap gaming case for cooling as Yai-Kai says, you shou7ld be able to get one for around 20-40 $. then a cheapo mouse and keyboard (heck if you have an old PC just use IT's mouse and keyboard, and screen too XD ) and you're set.

Don't waste your time sending it in. When i sent mine in in October, i didn't get it back until January, and it wasn't even the same one - it was a new one. IT took them about 3 months to send me a new console. Pathetic. And they had something on their website which "outlined" the "process" my console was going through as if they were actually repairing it, when they only replaced it. I recommend you buy another one.
