No, I like the unique styled robes in DA. I think they just need to be more varied.

All mages should look like they're ready to step onto a Las Vegas stage.

Just kidding. =]

More styles of mage armor/robes would be nice.

It's not that it's "crap" it's that anime-esque stuff just doesn't fit in the Dragon Age world. If this were Jade Empire, anime might work.

The real problem with mage robes is that they absolutely sucked - except for some female robes - in both games.

The designs need to be improved (and then some), but not in an eastern direction.

1. What's wrong with anime crap? Witcher 2 went the anime crap route and it seemed to come out really well.

2. I would like a wide range of robes and armor, and armored robes, to be able to have a very badass mage. Sometimes it's fun to be a less armored and more awesome looking person, then it is to be a tank with a twirling stick.

I'd much have some badass robes with a twirling stick.

Preferably a twirling glowing stick that can slice people up bad.

Yeah, I would hate that. I was obsessed with anime and jrpgs through childhood into my mid twenties and I am SO sick of it. I would hate it if the clothing became Japanese/anime-esque.

Would you be okay with both kinds existening?

Sure. What I don't want is a "redesign" like with the elves or qunari.

Ah, okay. I thought you were saying you want bsolutely none of it. And while I personally like the redesigned Qunari and Elves(though the latter are being redesigned again due to complaints and other reasons), I understand that taking away an iconic look can be bad. Which is why when it comes to armor and weapons at least, the more options the better since it caters to more people's desires.

I want to wear the Arishok's Armor or something close to that, also armor like Hawke's minus the metal armor pieces but keeping the chainmail part.
Please no robes like in origins:sick:.

I would love a robe like one of the pictures posted above, where two mage like figures are wearing red, male and female.

I think I kind of get the anime style robes you are getting at, robes that would look comfortable/ natural to wear while fighting. As long as the robes fit with the way the way the rest of Orlais dresses then yes. Just not too anime:sick:.

Byakuya is a cool mofo, and I can see something inspired by his attire.

But Senbonzakura is way too eastern.

I'm in favor of light armor type robes. Really don't want my Mage to look too obvious to Templars.

I would imagine that, away from the Templars' restrictions, mages have probably begun to experiment with armor that amplifies magic instead of making it harder to cast. It could make sense to see light mage armor in DAI.

That said, I'm not opposed to DAO's or DA2's direction on mage robes.

I always disliked mage robes, in Origins all my mages become arcane warrior just so they can wear armor instead of those silly looking long skirts (not to mention the dreadful mage cowls). I'd like the option to have pants for both male and female mages, something like the Robes of the Notorious Pirate or the Champion armour would be great.:)

These are awful robes.
