Other than that, go nuts with the style.

Are we bullfighting in DAI or something?whogotsalami wrote...
I'd die happy if this robe was in DAI.
Oh wait, I get it. Iron Bull. So like...this is our qunari courting outfit?
Back on topic, my mages do not wish to not draw attention to themselves, and tend to prefer pants. Just like the ones above... Well, more subdued. Less likely to garner attention...like the Robes of the Notorious Pirate below - (thank you, Fell Orden!):

I way prefer pants to dresses.

For heroism and characterization's sake, female mage robes must show as much skin as possible or be spandex-tight without being lewd. This is known to improve their magical abilities.

At least some of them should.
There should be a mix of conservative or traditional and revealing or ostentatious, and everything in between, so there is a little of something to fit every mage Inquisitor's personality.

I can already see the "Dragon Age is sexist to females because some armours are revealing!" threads.

Funny thing about robes, they aren't great at stopping arrows or daggers or swords
But then if we are going to point out the flaws in armor in DA we will be here a while
Its also supposedly hard to sprint in full Hauberk little lone heavy cast platemail and yet it occurs.
Indeed that's why you had pikemen and other lancer varients from Mounted Dragoons to the light infantry every European Nation employed in their armies to counter heavily armored knighted infantry.
Swords, Axes and Bows do little against three to five solid inches of heavy cast steel little lone those magical elements people toss into DA. Dragonbone supposedly is sharper then volcanic glass after all.

Though actually, the male cirkle robes were ok... It was the female version that was horrible imo. Dunno why they made it so different, all the other armors were more similar across genders from what I remember.

So for me, Orlesian + butt cape + good stats = perfect "robe"

Yes, I would love to have Avatar-style mage clothing. Another franchise I'd like a style to be similar to is thestyles of the Fire Emblem magic classes.

I like Avatar-style clothing / robes because of several reasons.
1) Each group had a unique style for their robes. IMO, Dragon Age should have this where each type of group have their own specific design when it comes to armor and weapons. ESO is doing this and I have to say the results are brilliant.
2) They had practical robes ! Who knew you could have robes with pants ! Obviously in Avatar world this is to aid their bending movements but robes + pants in Thedas would mean a mage is more flexible in locomotion.

1) To be fair, DA2 did that personalized look based on group thing. Each race had unique looking armor and weapons.
2) Agreed. Or at least have robes that have slits down the side so it can move when needed, like battle skirts.
