I'm a bit confused as to a question about Hosting and internet speeds so as a start let's post my speed test so that ppl can pity me for my crappy DSL Internet hahaha

Image IPB]Image IPB[/url]

Anyone care to explain as to why most of the time when a host leaves. This game makes me the host?.. I mean does it feel sorry for me is it taking pity on me or what lulz. Granted that speed test is about the best connection I get and it's not always that good, and  "good" is a relative term in this case.

It's Origin. It works the opposite of the logic way. Simple as that.

Yeah, but  i'm more curious if it searches for some kind of priority, cause like i said it almost ALWAYS makes me the host, surely thats not just coincidence or bad luck....

If i'm slower than 73% of the US surely I am slower than at least 50% of the entire world...so ..there has to be some logical reason it keeps picking me as a host.

He's on PS3 Image IPB

On topic: Bandwith isn't that important due to my network monitoring programm (20 kb/s peak on collector/gold/wave 8), but ping is.

I can't really answer your question as I really don't understand all the techy Internet stuff. But I definitely feel like 9 times out of 10 that when there's a host migration, I inherit the hosting responsibilities. I always assumed it was maybe because I had the best/most stable connection of the remaining players? And I assumed that because most everyone says my host is really, really good for them, like nearly lag-free.

This is mine, Comcast cable high-speed Internet:

lulz Dragonracer is faster than 72% of the US, I'm the complete opposite I'm slower than 73%... that is sad but still funny.

I've gotta upgrade my internet ffs....the best I can get right now is a banded Dual line DSL, which would supposedly double my speeds, but i'd bet my ping wouldn't change.... that's mainly what stops me from upgrading it

And this is not even at full speed, because i have a server that takes up a portion of the brandwidth.

Awesum speeds, but in no way has any bearing on this thread :P other than to more prove my point as to why the hell this game makes me a host with my  horrible nets

Tis a bad day, usually I clip towards 0-5ms ping, around 190MB/s down and around 75MB/s up.

Mine is even worse than that. Ping 43ms, 4.88mbs download, 0.68mgs upload. Luckily we just got fibre optic in the town I live, so probs get that soon.

I don't see what OP is complaining about.  This is why I always play off-host ......

I bet you're all jealous of my download and upload speed. The ping looks fine, but this is not accounting for the major problem: instability which causes me to disconnect in a lot of games (more than 50%) and to get freezes on-host. Sharing a connection sucks.

On topic, the game never seems to pick me as the host which i guess is sensible enough, i see players teleporting around everywhere when i try to host. I mean, i was never picked first, the only time i seem to get picked is when i'm the only remaining player (or maybe it is that they all get disconnected when the game tries to change to my host).
So... no idea as to why it would always pick you.

The reason we aren't answering your question is because we don't have the answer. You'd have to ask whoever coded the host migration routine, but I suppose that is a no-go as all the devs have transferred to other projects.

No idea if anyone knows it would be Cyonan, Anno, or Caratonoid (spelling?). I would message any of those on your FL tenaciously until you get your answer. 100 messages in an hour might not be sufficient.
