On Topic: Ashley goes back to the Alliance, who spits on your name and everything you fought for, and she takes it in stride without caring, Then when you meet her she doesn't join you cause she dislikes Cerberus. Well **** her.



Liara on the other hand risks her own life time and time again so she can recover your body and give you to Cerberus to be brought back from the dead. I hold her actions in very high regard.

Ashley is a marine. Marines accept death when they put uniform on. I think Horizon scene was done nicely in terms of Ash character, though I wish we have more time to talk and explain everything to each other.

It wasn't about accepting death. It was about allowing Shepard's name to be trashed by the Alliance, which she ( and Kaiden ) did.

Very few soldiers these days would allow the name of their commanding officer to be tarnished, after their CO had led them in a high risk mission and got them out alive. Let alone saving the Galaxy and having feelings for that person.

I respect Kenneth a great deal for what did. He risked a Court Martial just so he could defend your name, what do Ahsley/Kaiden do? They get their asses promoted and accept your name to be ridiculed without so much as a comment. If I had been Shepard I would shot Kaiden/Ashely on Horizon.

That said however. I can to a degree understand Kaiden and his reasoning. He always believed that the ends don't justify the means, and that humanity was pushing the aliens too much. So yeh I do respect him for sticking with his beliefs.

Ash on the other hand? She feels that humans should look out for themselves and give a crap about aliens, She suggests you leave the council to die, to kill the Rachni Queen etc etc. True you can paragonize her a bit, but in the end it doesn't change her.

Liara is more or less my favorite character in the story, with the possible exception of Garrus. I have a weakness for sweet women, and Liara is so sweet her kisses give diabetes. I think Ashley was a very well-written character, but as much as I respect her, I dislike her. I disagree with her mindset and I think that her attitude is extremely detrimental to humanity's standing in galactic politics. I think that Ashley represents the sort of thought processes that will cost the entire galaxy their lives. Distrusting the other races for no reason other than "they're not humans" more or less ensures a victory for the Reapers.

I don't get this logic at all. Tali is by far a worse damsel in distress character than Liara, I have to save her twice and fix her problems on the flotilla.



Garrus spends ten times more dialogue whining about his life at CSec and the world in general than Kaidan does.



And yet no one ****es about them. But the only two people who actually are interested in you and worried about the problems you're dealing with, are the ones that are hated on. It just irritates me to no end.

Right.  Liara saves your life.  Ashley/Kaidan are worried about you for joining a terrorist organization and try to talk you out of it (Tali and Garrus just go along with it).

Don't expect her to do anything to aid her own escape either. Quite the contrary: the existence of a Damsel In Distress often precipitates a Dulcinea Effect. (And don't
expect anyone to give her any slack on this, even if the poor girl
would logically *not* have the skills or abilities needed to help.) Some damsels do try to talk back or plan their escape, but this is still rare - and it doesn't usually work.

Notice that not once when you come to Tali's rescue is she not actively trying to facilitate her own escape or is just waiting to be rescued.

I thought he was talking about Tali since Liara actually has her own story arc without any involvment of  Shepard.

I will say that if you want to get into the whole stereotypical female that needs saving thing, Liara is clearly a more passive character than Tali and has fainting spells.
