I never played this guy much because it's another class where you have to choose from being a wet of piece of tissue paper and having a robust attack (bow) or having better surviveability and having a pea shooter for a bow.  I finally played him more due to challenges and came to realize  (very late to the party, insert pink pokemon here) how overpowered cheesy cane mine spam is.

It's ridiculous, I play the guy like crap with my mine spamming and I still just destroy bosses at times.  I'd hate to see what someone could do that is very effieicent with their mine spam.  I used the bow about once per game.  I think I've only ever played with one Talon that was really good with the bow but I'm surprised there are not a heck of alot more cane spammers around considering how powerful it is and how it requires little skill to do massive damage.

I agree the Talon merc can get pretty boring, its just far more profitable to play him as a CM spam rather than the way he was probably meant to be played. That said, playing with him strategically can be a lot of fun; setting up the mines at a choke point can prevent you from ever getting flanked. You won't score as highly but the team gameplay becomes more enjoyable

Geth Trooper is cheesier IMO.

I think he's fun to play with a Bow build.  Just use a Cyclonic.  Cain Mines are actually kind of fun to use as traps instead of spamming them.  Works really well to prevent those filthy Dragoons from whipping you in the back.

CM spam is annoying, and really I see no fun in it. On the other hand you could say AP arrows are OP.

The only thing this kit needs is a good stagger, prefferably AoE weapon that allows easy bow action in between shots. Falcon omni blade, strenght enhancer, power amp, nade capacity and all A fitness.
Cain mines for insurance from sneak attacks and escape rutes. Don't even need 105 points :)

An exploitable strategy in mass effect? Time to blame the kit.

He is sort of an interesting change of pace if you play bow heavy.

Ever since they fixed his bow he has been a great kit all around, I play a combo ofbow and mine use, not highly specialized in one or the other, and He can be great fun

He is the only character I've found to benefit decently from explosive rounds due to the stagger effect, something he otherwise lacks in my build

His bow is great when used with charging weapons. Free headshots ! I played a bit with Graal/Acolyte, I'll test him with the Arc Pistol soon.

Bow + Graal = flechettes everywhere.

He would be fun if the Cain Mines really worked when placed and triggered normally by the enemy rather than spamming it. But I had Brutes and Ravagers and even Praetorians casually walking right trough the lazor without detonation.

I'd say Edibot + Reegar tops the cheese chart ... I see that so often in PuGs.

I think the GPS is just as good.  No headshots, but anything you shoot will either be killed by the GPS or staggered so that your arrow is a 100% hit.  No more wasted AP arrows!

Yes if you can stay alive without a doubt the highest DPS win class in the game. If Cain Mine actually were fixed to reliably hit enemies within their proximity, not explode when spammed, and be blocked by ****** power bubbles, it would be a fun kit. Great idea, ****** poor implementation which should be the tagline for all things EA.

Yeah maybe if you just Cain Mine spam, I would hardly call the bow build cheesy though

I just tried the graal and it was ok. I found it hard to use at long range because you have to hipfire when you shoot an arrow, so a lot of the spikes miss. Also it would be very bad off host especially against phantoms, I'd have to rely solely on concussive arrows to deal with them.

Even cain mine spam isn't really cheesy in the long run. Sure you can nuke spawns and pop thermal clip packs like an addict, but when you run out it takes about 2 waves of waiting and ammo box hogging to replenish the grenade count to full capacity. Also note that enemies have to be breathing down each other's necks for maximum effectiveness. A reave spamming justicar could probably do more damage overall lol

Edit: Except maybe on glacier
