Well... I've spent slightly more than 1k hours on this game I think, and it feels like a freaking unholy crazy amount of wasted time. I've had my issues during this time which pretty much make me understand why I did it... But I can safely say that if someone put more time than me in this game than he has issues too. And pretty big ones, too. He might just not be ready to admit it to himself.

So you are referring to a specific dude?

Uh? No, not at all. I'm just saying that anyone who spends this much time on a virtual hobby is likely not really satisfied with his real life. It's quite a wide spread issue anyway, there's nothing really bad in admitting it once you can admit it to yourself (again, a generic "you", not you).

Well to put a bit of perspective..I have 880 hrs. So I'm approaching the 1000 hr mark soon enough. That equals to about an hour ..maybe a bit more per day for 2 yrs. I don't think it's that bad or all consuming as it sound when I get the sticker shock of seeing "880 hrs".

And here's my copy paste of what I said on the other thread about this:

only played for 800 hrs" because I know that my total hrs spent on ME3 multi is probably average around BSN vs the top tier. That said- it's hard for me not to view my total hrs played kind of negatively and in a depricating way. But I'm a gamer and this is my hobby- seeing the total hrs makes me sometimes a little embarrassed! I spend many more hrs reading books though, so there is always that.

Even the word "gamer" has a stigma to it. It feels like a stamp or label placed by society on those who game. I think the visual of sitting down with a controller in your hand looks bad as opposed to someone with a smartphone in hand. The person with the phone appears to be doing something more productive when in fact could be reaching for the record on temple run or bejeweled. Your probably looking at it from a socially acceptable POV. No offense intended

Not offended whatsoever but what do you mean that I'm looking at it from a socially acceptable pov? Please clarify.

I said probably. Not that you are. Just from my observation from your comment about being embarrassed about your hours played and your viewing it in a negative and depricating way..... Which is how most of society see it

I don't think thats true. Most of the players who I have chatted to have pretty normal lives and probably prefer to play video games rather than watch TV .
Personally I am happy with my life. Great job , healthy , lots of friends and  women in my life. I probably go out too much and spend too much money but I have no responsibilities - children  etc .

I really enjoy playing this game on the weekends or on the odd weeknight . Phone off and enjoy the solitude.

I have 817 hours in this game on ps3. I stay at home pretty much every night, might as well play a game I enjoy than watch crap on tv.

I had about 1300 hours played on WoW last I checked (about 55 days worth) keeping in mind that was spread out over 5+ years and much of that was also just me AFK. I also knew quite a few people that had literally over 10000 hours, or 416+ days played.

I think I've found a portal in off-topic that leads to a MP thread.

I need to find some way to close it before something from their side comes through.

I don't have 1000 hours, but the first three things pretty much apply to me and my life, at least based upon societal standards. I'd argue with the last one though because no one can tell somebody else what that person's priorities should be.

Do what makes you happy.

**** people's opinions.

I don't really care. I wouldn't be ashamed to admit it to most people because it's a hobby that I enjoy and I would expect a friend to respect that.

What is this "friend" that you speak of?

I actually don't give a damn about the stigma. I have played a lot of games with near 1000+ hours and beyond that. Games like Skyrim, DAO, ME3, ME2 and Civ V.

Does this mean I have no real life ? Definitely not.

I am a student / scholar. Doing my postgraduate studies now. I study, do research, teach and write about my subject matter. On evenings and weekends I go to the gym to run on the treadmill / go to the university's stadium to run on the track for an hour or two.

The reason I have clocked a lot of game hours is because outside of being a scholar and occasional exercise, I only play games, watch movies and read comic & books. & I almost always do these things alone.

I don't go out to parties or pick up girls or anything of the sort. Yes I am an introvert and have absolutely no interest in doing sociable things. I have a small circle of good friends and that is sufficient for me.

The thing is if you are a bachelor who happens scholar and you have no interest in women or dating or being sociable or anything similar, you actually have a lot of free time on your hands. I mean a lot. Studies take up 5-6 hours a day with weekends off. Exercise about an hour. Total all that with sleeping and eating I have about minimum 5-6 of free time daily.

& I spend that time to play video games .

Bottom line, I know what I am.

I don't know what pisses me off the most. Troll or people who keep trying to justify what they do to others ( strangers ) on the internet. Shaming others to feel superior has been done since the dawn of time. If you stand up for who you're people will stand up for you and will start respecting you.

Talking of this remind me of boogy. The man is morbidly obese. Yet he's well loved on youtube. Because the guy don't give a damn about hater and when you're confident  and accept the person you're people will be attracted to you regardless. All of this justification ****** me off. Like - Oh I have x or y thus I can have W. It's just pisses me off.

grrrr

This need to always fit in. Frigging sheep. Okay I was hars here. Also internet is full of troll ( psychopath). Stop caring and be who you want to be. Stop giving that power in the hand of people that don't give a **** about you anyway.
