-Personality - Morrigan: I liked her anti-hero, cavalier attitude to most things. Was a great contrast to the other characters hero. Also, her and Alistairs constant back and forth was so great and really made the team feel alive.

-Base Stat - Alistair: With my main character being Dual Swords...Alistair was a great teammate...not only in game mechanics...but also in story and concept. He was the main characters best friend and fellow warden...and visually...he was there in the middle of every fight with the main character...back to back, so to speak.

-Back story - Leliana

....my best and favorite companion is Oghren. He's someone who my warden could just visit and he'll always have something funny to say or for them to do xD oghren to me, is what varric is to Hawke. These two dwarves would follow our Hawke's and wardens to the ends of the earth if we wished them to

Stats: Morrigan: her damage output's great,Wynne: She's saved my bacon plenty of times,Leliana: A master of unlocking.:D

Personality: Alistair, if I can only choose one. He's adorable!

Stats: Wynne, because I hate being a healer but having a dedicated healer makes things so much easier. Honourable mention to Morrigan, as it takes very little work to make her an absolute beast.

Back-story: This is a tough one. I think I have to go with Morrigan because everything that has anything to do with Flemeth has my interest.

Wynne overall. She is a great healer statswise, is probably one of the wisest people in all of Thedas and her backstory is extremely interesting to me.

I think, my all-time favourite from Origins will remain Morrigan. She's such a deep character and I totally love her humour. Also, she undergoes a real development as the story evolves, and this makes her even more fascinating.

Morrigan's closely followed by Zevran, who also was a very funny companion I loved to take with me for his sarcastic and saucy comments! And the romance with him was much more interesting (due to its intricacy) than with Alistair (whose romantic interest you can barely eschew).

Personality - Morrigan; I like everything about her, and her comments to the Warden and other companions are hilarious.

Stats - Morrigan; I build up her Primal talents and she can pretty much destroy anyone. I don't need a healer, since I collect a massive amount of health potions.

Backstory - Morrigan; Mysterious, but what she does share is very interesting. How can anyone else (other than Isabela; I freakin' love her!) compare to growing up with Flemeth as your "mother"?

From main game and any dlcs,

Who is your favorite companion in the following catagory?

-Personality
-Base stat
-Back story

Ooof, this is hard. I'm not a huge fan of the DA:O companions; I do like them (except Oghren) but not sure I have favorites *finger to chin*

Personality: Alistair. He has some good lines, and I think his VA does an excellent job. Of course he's also sort of the "star" of the show, so it's almost no contest. Runner ups are Zevran, Morrigan, and Sten.

Stats: Wynne, I can't go anywhere without her LOL Kinda sucks really

Back Story: Zevran. UGH, abandoned by his runaway Dalish wh*re mother, trained by assassins, learned to equate sex with business at a young age, his first love resulted in heartbreak and made him afraid to love again... please. No contest. *huggles the assassin*

Personality - Leliana. A good looking redhead who can sing. Can't beat that

Stats - Morrigan. Tougher than she looks

Backstory - Loghain. His love for his country, Fereldon.

Personality: Zevran and Shale for having a good deal more to them than meets the eye, and for it actually taking getting to know them to get to know them. Many of the others are fairly obvious even if your character never spends much time around them. Morrigan's a runner-up, for the same reason.

Stats: Depends on the kind of party I'm trying to run. They all have advantages and disadvantages.

Backstory: I find most of them have interesting backstories, which may be why I like the companions in Origins overall much more than I do in most other games. Aside from the three I already mentioned, I thought the stories of Justice and Sigrun were interesting in Awakening.

1.) Loghain: rich backstory; made for a worthy enemy, and later an invaluable companion; HYR just loves him some old wardogs.

2.) Zevran: witty and cunning; got along with him very well.

3.) Morrigan: alluring; strong and wise; very compatible with my Warden.

HM: Leliana, Oghren.

Personality: Tossup between Oghren and Leliana

Backstory: Loghain or Nathaniel, I guess. Everyone's trying to redeem themselves from something, but those two have the most to make up for.

Stats: Healers (Wynne and Anders). I hate both characters though.

Personality - Leliana. Sometimes a chat about shoes and sequins and pudding is all a guy needs to take his mind off the constant death.

Base stat - Wouldn't have gotten far into the Deep Roads without Wynne and her restoration spells.

Back story - Probably Sten. Slowly learning about their bizarro culture was interesting, even if I think they're only slightly more backwards than the dwarves.

3) Alistair.  He isn't serious all the time like you'd expect a Grey Warden to be and he actually has a sense of humor.  That's something that only Zevran, Oghren, and Anders seem to have.

2) Shale.  Bonus if you are playing a human hating city or Dalish elf (did that.  No regrets :D).  He -oh, I mean she- is an amazing tank who hates birds and dislikes humans.  Kind of reminds me of HK-47 in KOTOR because of all her comments on how everyone else is so 'squishy.'  Shale has a bit of a sense of humor, though it doesn't come through much.

1) Oghren.  His banter is just great!  From asking Leliana whether or not Chantry priests wear underwear, to asking Alistair what it was like to bang the Warden (female Warden, obviously), he gets me laughing all the time!  Not to mention the dialogue you get when he's drunk at camp (he 'propositioned' my fem Brosca, who barely resisted punching him, lol ).  And his personal quest... well, let's just say that he has an... ahem... unusual relationship with Felsi.  Still, I get plenty of laughs.

Alistair is my overall favorite. Love his personality, sense of humor, specialization (tank so I don't have to be), and backstory.

Close seconds are Morrigan and Zevran. ^_^

Alistair on all fronts. I really missed him in awakening until I fell for Nathaniel whom I adore. Then I really wished Nathaniel was always with me from game one and that they had him in a second game where it was still like DAO.

Nathaniel really surprised me.  I expected to hate him because of his father, but as I got to know the character I found I liked him best of all the Awakening companions.  I only imported games where I get to see him in DA2, preferably ones where I made the sibling a GW.

The one thing that Awakening did really well were the characters. Velanna can grate but I adore Nathaniel, Anders (but not in DA2), Justice, and Sigrun. Oghren was not my favourite in either game. Oddly though, his bit with Velanna and Sigrun about baby dwarves is one of my fave dialogues.

NOW I have to replay DA2 and make the sibling a GW just to see him. I LOVED his character. I wish awakening had been a fully realized game and he was a romancable character. He was truly the best. I took him everywhere. Turned out of be really the most likeable and I played as a cousland. I just loved that he was openminded enough to come around and you got to see he was so honorable. I'm going to play my next DA2 game at least until Bethany becomes a Grey warden. That should be fun to see him again. Must play soon!!! thanks for mentioning that.

Tough call really. I always played the game on its "Nightmare" difficulty and with every play-through I used a different class (I hated warrior). So, making class choices had me taking on certain characters for the duration of the game. If I were to make a consensus of an overall choice based on class, I'd have to say Wynne, Zevran and Oghren as for being practical. It really depended on what class I chose and what specializations I chose for my companions. If I played a mage, Wynne was always out of the picture and Morrigan in it. Also, I typically lean a bit to the evil side, so Morrigan was always a must. But I felt weird having her specs set as a healer if I had to make that choice when I played a warrior.

If out of an affinity for certain characters, definitely Zevran, Morrigan and Leliana. However, I do think they made the romance aspect of the game a bit too easy to achieve, but it definitely added many considerations to the choices I made during the game-play.

Zevran. His banters are hilarious, especially those with Wynne.
