:crying: I played this citadel dlc a couple of times and this one annoying thing is creeping me out. You are chasing and fighting the N6 mercenaries in the citadel archives. Then  you encounter the Shepclone. The clone is holding Brooks and treathens to shoot her. The clone demands that Shepard and his team lay down their guns. And this is what bugs me so much. Really ! Shepard . You lay down your gun. All your friends lay down their's!  So now they can be killed without any resistance! But we are lucky. Cloneshep has a speech for us. Would it not have been possible to give us players an intervention option! Shooting Brooks trough her shoulder and wounding cloneshep or something whatever. I mean my Femshep surrendering like this it is so OUT OF CHARACTER. I hate it. So what do you think? Am i right on this one?

Yes, it's out of character, especially for players that had already figured out who's side Brooks is on. Maybe they needed an extra scene where you did fire on Brooks, and they somehow trap you anyway.

But that would have taken development time and resources away from the rest of the Citadel DLC, which is almost all excellent, so you'll forgive me if I'm not too bothered by the oversight.

Super-Villians ALWAYS monologue. ALWAYS. Shepard knows this, as should you. So of course she lays down her gun. She's simply waiting for the monologue.

Yep always disliked the contrivance of laying down your weapon in that scene.
However since the plot aspect of the Citadel DLC is very much on the fluff side i find it best just to get through it and enjoy all the good content afterwards.

Lol, I go renegade throughout the entire Citadel DLC stroy arc, because I got tired of playing nice. I bring Wrex everywhere with me, because that's the only time he gets to be in the squad, and so, Garrus has never had a Casino date with me before.

To OP, yes it's pretty annoying that intervention couldn't be involved like the Miranda and Oriana incident where you shoot Oriana at her foot.

I don't really take the Citadel DLC seriously, or even as part of the canon, so things like this I just laugh off as part of the joke.

"I let the Council die. I unleashed the rachni on the galaxy. [I killed 300,000 batarians and wiped out an entire system.] So for your sake, I hope your plan doesn't hinge on me hesitating to shoot a damn hostage!"

Or how about Thane's LM where you can do just that? "Hostages only work if people care whether they live or die."

*sigh.* Not the first failure. Not the last.

Yeah its pretty much the same for me. Plus the hilarious "I should go" thing that shep did later was just incredibly funny.

To all of you. I know Masseffect is not perfect, but this scene just stood out for me. I want to tear my hair out of my skull. And ofcourse you can reason it away. Or is it a matter of spacemagic ! But for the rest i just enjoy Masseffect completely.mostly

He made me drop my Arc Pistol. He will pay if he touches my Arc Pistol and if he dares use it, I will have Daro'Xen make me a Arc Sniper and blow is ugly head off and reclaim my Arc Pistol.

My problem with Citadel period is that 80% is OOC.

Garrus is a total nub in it, Tali and Ash are college party ****s, Miranda's a charisma vacuum, Samara get a sense of humor, Kasumi's personality and... everything disappears figuratively and literally, Jacob's even more awkward, Kaidan's a nerd, Wrex loses every ounce of edge he's had and is reduced to ..."Uncle Urdnot" (though that Randy Savage Elbow was still one of my favorite moments in the series). At first the fanservice was great, but it wears off extremely quickly to a point where I almost want to skip it now, just breezing through for the weapons and mods.

Im gona do the same with Xen. Force her to make me Arc Pistol type weapons for ever and ever.

Arc Sniper would be so OP. And it would sneak under the radar too, just like the Arc Pistol.

It'd be glorious.

I don't see how this is different from the base game (e.g. Sniper!shepard and Garrus taking ineffective pistol potshots to give away their position rather than, you know, shooting him their anti-materiel rifles).

The Citadel DLC is part of the official canon however, whether or not the player considers it as such.

Still, I agree with JasonShepard. It would have taken development time and resources to create an alternative way for the scene to play out, and that isn't always going to be feasible. Resources unfortunately are finite.

I prefer the viper sniper rifle with a high velocity armor piercing barrel. with the ammo upgrades from glyph, I get 54 shots, 6 rounds @ fairly rapid rate of fire, and it takes down armored targets fairly fast (with the hv barrel).

as for the dlc's plot, I had brooks pegged the moment I saw her (on my first playthrough). I knew using the spectre code on the door to the walkway was a mistake, I also knew transmitting shepard's command codes to the normandy while communications were compromised was an even bigger mistake. etc., etc., etc.
I do find it hard to ignore these things when i'm playing.

@ mcfly
I think he's referring to the cat6 mercs. though I would say most were n2-4 commandos if they even managed to get that far.

Another example of role-playing limitations in ME3. I agree completely. My Shepard would never give in to such a demand. It's beyond stupid.

When Kolyat did this I killed Jorum Talid. When Vasir did this I insulted Asari which distracted her long enough for Liara to hit her with a table. If that didn't work I'd wound the hostage. The same goes for Oriana. I'd never lower my weapon.

It's james bond 007 DLC, casino, spywork, tracking down your nemesis. Attacking the lair with some support.
Getting caught, mutachetwirling from the badguy.... then you break free hint him down, he dies one way or another.
Shep gets the girl and he and his friends parties.

A fact I try to avoid. Don't get me wrong I like the DLC, but it's too silly for me to take seriously.

I thought lang was a former n7 operative (like Anderson & shepard), though I guess that means at some point he had an n6 rating?

I thought they were "Category 6" which was the name for Alliance soldiers who were dishonorably discharged.
