Started up a new playthrough of ME2 so I could have some fun as an adept. No real RP strategy here (except that this Shep doesn't really like or trust Krogans). So, since this Shep really doesn't have any particular agenda I started avoiding all the persuade options, including interrupts, just because I have never seen these alternatives before.

Quite a different experience. The gate guards in the quarantine zone, unlike previous times, opened fire on us. Mordin had a really funny line of dialogue when we met him "Will . . . try . . . to . . . talk . . . slower. No, no, no. Too busy!" Daniel his assistant was shot by the Batarians and EDI told us the Blue Suns have regained control over the district. Shepard chased off Forvan the Batarian bartender, and forced Patriarch into hiding. And now it looks like that kid who wanted to join up with the mercs going after Archangel is going to get himself killed.

Not sure how far I will take this. There are probably some interrupts I will take and a few persuade options I will choose, but it does open up a very different playthrough than usual.

I didn't know Mordin's assistant can be shot, but than again I never attempted it.

I have gotten the line about the Blue Suns have regained control. You get that line if you avoid dealing with Daniel.

I have never chased off Forvan. I either made him drink his poison or the turain shot him

I agree that avoiding some interrupts or persuasions opens up different outcomes

I tried this sort of thing twice in ME1.

First I attempted to always choose the "neutral" option - which was sadly missing in the sequels - and still wound up with a surprising amount of paragon and renegade points.

Second time I played as a paragon, but spent 0 points in Charm. You still get 3 for free eventually, but three points won't take you very far. So I had a paragon Shep who kept trying, desperately trying, to talk his enemies down, avoid conflict, and forge unlikely alliances, but failing miserably time and again. I cringe at the psych profile of this Shepard, the well-meaning death machine who reluctantly leaves a mountain of corpses in his/her wake, killing all who cross his/her path because they just won't listen.

Well, this just gets more and more interesting. Currently on Korlus looking for Okeer.

Have you ever not used a persuade option with the first merc you meet, the one who's "bleeding out?" This was my first time. Turns out if you don't use the persuade option Jedore's dialogue completely changes. Perhaps more importantly, you run into a bunch more opposition, like Fenris mechs that aren't there if you use one of the persuade options. Plus a few more mercs.

And now we get to see Shepard shooting Grunt. :)

If you don't take either of the persuade options Shepard ends up shooting Grunt. You have two non-persuade choices to which Grunt responds differently, but then the scene plays out exactly the same whether you take the renegade interrupt or not: Shepard shoots Grunt and Grunt is impressed and agrees to join the crew.

I also found out that if you kill Jedore right at the start of the fight only one Krogan is released from a tank. The other three never get released. Makes for a much faster fight. (I took out Jedore with the grenade launcher.)

Wow, unpersuasive Shep let's herself be cowed by a Salarian maintenance worker wielding a gun he probably doesn't even know how to use. :) "Don't try following us. I'll be watching!"

That's during Thane's recruitment mission right?

I assume you'll interrupt jack/Miranda and tali/legion spats(if you're able to when the time comes.)

I imagine that Jack will be a difficult character to deal with without using coercion. Sounds like an interesting play through cap n'gown. Nice going :)

This sounds pretty cool, and definitely is something I've never tried. Making a note right now for my next trilogy run.

Gonna be tough not pushing that merc through the window. And since I won't be romancing anybody else, I may have to cheat and pursue Samara as much as possible to get that scene in the citadel DLC.
