So, is it just me, or does anyone else feel just... wrong playing as femshep? I mean, I'm not anti-feminist or anything, and Jennifer Hale does a great job with her voice acting, but for some reason, playing as femshep just doesnt feel right to me. I started my first playthrough as femshep in ME1 and when i thought about getting to the citadel DLC with her, i just couldnt do it; i cant picture anyone else but my default shep saying goodbye to the crew one last time.

Maybe some day I'll be able to complete a playthrough with her, but that is not this day.

I don't. I'm a guy and I play FemShep only while my older brother plays only MaleShep. FemShep is an icon of female power within video games. Sure, I can play MaleShep as well, but that would mean I'd have to start clean from Mass Effect. :-(

I never had a problem with FemShep in ME1 or ME2. I do however have a problem playing her in ME3 because her body shape doesn't look real or particularly strong, the proportions are way off. It's a small issue but from third person view it's constantly in your face.

For me FemShep is Shepard. It feels odd playing Sheploo, but I do it occasionally to romance Tali. I just wish the female models would have their own movement animations.

I only played FemShep to romance Traynor.. and doing the stuff I can't bring myself to do as a MaleShep. (killing the Rachni Queen, choose destroy, those kinda things)

Default FemShep is butt ugly, so I spent a good hour or something on creating an insanely good looking one :D

Femshep is my preferred Shep. Played Sheploo once and hated his mouth animations during romance scenes. (Custom mshep is better in this regard.) I play mshep when I want to romance one of the female NPCs not available to femshep, such as Tali, Jack, Miranda and Ashley. But 70+% of the time I play femshep.

I do wonder: I have only danced with Doran as a femshep and she does alright. Does mshep do the Shepard shuffle with Doran, or does he have the same dance moves as femshep? Did Shepard forget how to dance after ME1 because most people were playing mshep?

I'm the opposite. I cannot get into manshep. It's subjective. I'm glad we have the option to choose.

I've played manshep before but don't feel the connection with my Shepard. I heard "This would be better with femshep" in the back of my mind through the whole thing; especially the Liara romance scenes. lol I also felt Hale did a better job with the voice acting. To me Shepard is female.

I don't think I could get into it though if I had to use the ugly ME3 default. My custom femshep blows it away. You ever notice that the male characters' hands look like they were burned in a stove in ME3?

The times I played as maleshep I had him look like Charles Bronson. I only played maleshep to romance Miranda and Ashley and to see/hear the difference from playing as femshep.

I will stick with femshep.

Hmm, this is funny. i think ive managed to get the vast minority (20%, i believe it was) who played femshep to respond to this thread. Im not saying its a bad thing, not at all, I just find it funny. Wel im glad other people enjoy her, idk if ill ever be able to.

I have the same issue. To me Shepard is always the male version.

Part of it for me though might be because I prefer Mark Meer's performance to Jennifer Hale's.

I agree. Feel like I'm playing Librarian Shepard otherwise. Though I did play as FemShep, if only to see the differences. There were none.

I completely agree with the OP. I can never ever get into a game if the main character is a woman. Just too much of a disconnect. There have been a few games over the years that looked kind of cool that I passed over (like the new Tomb Raider game for instance) because I knew that I would never be able to get into the character and so wouldn't enjoy the game.

I used to play exclusively gorillaloo, but for whatever reason femshep fits better.

I'm a guy, and I've played with both. They were both fine.

Never played Sheploo, and never will.

femShep is Shepard to me as she was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Your mileage may vary.

Yep, Mark Meer's voice was a bit too soothing for me in my one attempt.... Posted Image I always played and preferred femShep.

And I like to call those "dirty pizza dough hands" or "BioWare hands". They've been really awful in both BW and DA games, thus far. I suspect it wasn't a priority.

I have one custom Male Shep. Infiltrator Anything else (including defaults) feels wrong. I tried to start a femShep but couldn't get past the Citadel... in ME1.

Jennifer Hale does do an amazing job though.

And OP, I don't know whether they're a majority or minority, but femShep players on here are quite... vocal. Just a heads-up.

I don't know, at the beginning I started playing ME as Maleshep only and felt just like the OP about playing femsheps. But then I got curious and wanted to check what it was like to romance Liara with a femshep, to make it like some kindo fo lesbo romance.
It was an experiment just to see the story, but after I got to like the femshep better than the malesshep U_U
Actually I've completed ME3 only with my femshep.

Why are these things easier as FemShep?

As for the topic, I gravitate a bit more  more towards FemSheps, but I think that's because my favorite ME1 PC was one. This had nothing to do with her gender; I just liked playing an Infiltrator best.
