That's funny, because I have a similar feeling to playing ManShep. I can't stand his wooden voice acting. He sounds exactly like what it is, some guy reading lines from a script. Reminds me too much of a Nicolas Cage movie. Miss Hale, however, actually sounds like she's playing the role, putting a little emotion into her acting. So, I almost never play anything other than a female in ME. Heck, I never played ManShep in ME3 until just this year. Just my view on the matter. I still occasionally play a male, I enjoy Ashley's romance too much to never experience it ever again, but it is not often.

I played through the games twice as a male Shep. Both custom. Then I played through them as a custom FemShep and have never looked back. Male Shep is fine. But FemShep *is* Shepard to me. I'll still devote a couple more trilogy plays to a male Shep--for the Jack and Miranda LI stuff. But when I think of Shepard, I will always think of FemShep. For me, it's not even close.

But people are different. Opinions are different. I'm glad we have the option to choose.

I only played FemShep to romance Traynor.. and doing the stuff I can't bring myself to do as a MaleShep. (killing the Rachni Queen, choose destroy, those kinda things)

Why are these things easier as FemShep?

As for the topic, I gravitate a bit more  more towards FemSheps, but I think that's because my favorite ME1 PC was one. This had nothing to do with her gender; I just liked playing an Infiltrator best.

I don't identify with a female.

I feel the opposite, but I think much of this has to do with how I feel about the VA of MShep, so FShep is my default. I find it a tad annoying though that I don't really like male Shepard, because I like replaying the opposite gender as well as different classes. I wish they were as even to me as Hawke's VA's in DA2 are, because MHawke is just as good as FHawke, in my opinion.

I usually play as a FemShep (I've started two playthroughs as BroShep, but never finished them).

Mark Meer is a good voice actor (he is great with his volus and vorcha for example), but I thought he did a meh job in ME1. He stepped his game up in ME2, but I felt Jennifer Hale still captured the essence of (paragon) Shepard better.

I tried playing Femshep but for some reason she always ends up mostly renegade, its like Hale's voice is made for renegade Femshep.

I was the same for my first 20 playthroughs....

But I'm glad I ended that ordeal because FemShep definitely gives the better performance in the first two games. Meer definitely stepped his game up in ME3 though....

I have more fem sheps than male ones, to me it just seems to make a more bad*** character if shep was a bad*** female character. and, I suppose I think that about most characters in videogames. I do also prefer hale's voice too.

And maleShep is the only one that can be a complete **** by kissing Miranda and then having sex with Jack, Kelly, Liara, Tali, and Morinth all in the same game.

Can Femshep have a mohawk? That could win me over.

I don't care what people say. Default Femshep in ME3 is smoking hot.

But seriously, I guess it depeds whether you see Shepard as yourself (play as MeShep). I don't. For me Shepard is just another character with the difference that I control him/her and can use him/her to direct where the story goes. So I have no problems playing as any gender and race etc.

*chuckles*

Come on now, don't stir up the FemShep evangelist nest.

Anyways, I've played as custom MShep, I've played as custom FemShep, I've played as Sheploo, and I've played as ME3's default FemShep. I like the different experiences, although my custom MShep remains my one true Shepard. If you don't like playing FemShep, OP, it's whatever, certainly there are lots of people who don't like MShep.

im currently on a playthrough with a custom MShep, and its not that bad, but most of the time custom Msheps look terrible, i was surprised mine looked pretty good.

Sheploo is the best though, he just feels "right". I can never play femshep

I could never make a good custom MShep either. All of them are kind of blockhead-ish. Like Conrad Verner or Donovan Hock.

I prefer to play as femshep (95% of play throughs), probably because I'm a woman. Although I like Hale's voice acting in ME and ME2, she sounds kind of bored and breathless in ME3 (particularly on the Geth dreadnaught mission) and it bugs me. I just completed a maleshep play through of ME3, using Genesis 2, but I'm going to try to play all three games for a cannon maleshep next. I may take a more renegade path, but whenever I try this, I usually wind up either fairly equal paragon/renegade, or slightly more paragon.

I played FemShep in ME1, and kinda just stuck with it. That was probably my favorite version of her. Acted a little bit more feminine and didn't have that exaggerated gruff voice. A nice balance.

Either way I'm indifferent.

True, but the one good thing about a custom mshep is he doesn't look so creepy during romance scenes. Something went seriously wrong with Sheploo's romance animations.

I used to think that the Sheploo smile was some kind of joke when I first saw a random image of it. Had a good laugh when I saw it happen on my playthrough. To be fair though, Shepard's smile in both 1 and 2 were weird for both genders, it's just that FShep doesn't really have as much opportunity, especially not in the bright lights of Miranda's quarters.

So you can only do bad things with a PC you don't identify with, eh? Got it.
