Tali's face isn't the only thing the developers just phoned in.

I'm content enough with my custom Mshep (Not a great fan of Sheploo)

I've played a female Shep in each of the three games, but always default to male Shep for most of my characters. I like Hale and think she's great, but I prefer the more even-keeled performance of Meer for the most part. Hale injects a bit too much personality into the character for my taste and over-emotes at times. It's funny that someone mentioned that Meer seems like he's just reading a script and I agree to a certain extent. My problem with Hale is that she seems to be doing a "dramatic" reading of the script and it doesn't come across well in some scenes. I think they both make an honest effort to work with what they're given, but when the writing is bad it can be pretty awful ("We fight or we die") and there's not much they can do about that. :pinched:

I played through the games twice as a male Shep. Both custom. Then I played through them as a custom FemShep and have never looked back. Male Shep is fine. But FemShep *is* Shepard to me. I'll still devote a couple more trilogy plays to a male Shep--for the Jack and Miranda LI stuff. But when I think of Shepard, I will always think of FemShep. For me, it's not even close.

But people are different. Opinions are different. I'm glad we have the option to choose.

And maleShep is the only one that can be a complete **** by kissing Miranda and then having sex with Jack, Kelly, Liara, Tali, and Morinth all in the same game.

Miranda and Tali in the same game....you sure?

I could never make a good custom MShep either. All of them are kind of blockhead-ish. Like Conrad Verner or Donovan Hock.

True, but the one good thing about a custom mshep is he doesn't look so creepy during romance scenes. Something went seriously wrong with Sheploo's romance animations.

only in ME2

Nothing funny stands out to me about ME2, except Miranda and the smile. I mostly play the Jack romance though.

I completely agree with the OP. I can never ever get into a game if the main character is a woman. Just too much of a disconnect. There have been a few games over the years that looked kind of cool that I passed over (like the new Tomb Raider game for instance) because I knew that I would never be able to get into the character and so wouldn't enjoy the game.

That's a shame, the Tomb Raider reboot was a great game and the new Lara is quite simply the loveliest female game character ever, imo.

Never had a problem with either, though I still prefer Male-Shep.

Yeah, default Femshep is... unfortunate. I use several overhaul mods and a custom headmorph. My Femshep is gorgeous.

No one answered my question. Can Femshep have a mohawk? :)

Sorry, can't launch the game now.

No. The best you can do is a buzz cut, ala Jack (but with out the designs shaved in).

Thanks.

Hmm.. Oh well.

I kind of think both MShep and FShep can't veer enough away from a clean cut type of personality. That's the only thing I hate. I want to make someone like Jack or a male who looks like he came out of Borderlands.

The only way I play Femshep is Paragon; for Renegade I prefer Maleshep. While I'm satisfied with Maleshep's default face, I always use a custom Femshep face. I try not to focus too much on the part with Kasumi though, because Maleshep gets a far better outfit (imo).

Femshep and only Femshep. Shepard is a woman, for me it works better and makes the game stand out more and be more unique.

Every other single game pretty much has a male protagonist. Playing as a female improves the game immensely.

I can't understand why people wouldn't want to play as a woman.

Because you can't romance Jack.

Yeah, I don't care what sex they are. A badass is a badass. And the down-to-earth, raw and gritty version of Lara in the latest installment is one of the best female characters in gaming today....

Because

A.  Its not very rare for a game to have a woman protagonist these days

B.  Hale did a terrible job as Shepard's VA

1) yes,  it is. Main playable characters are overwhelmingly male
2) no, she didn't - and that's a pretty much unanimous critical view

I like playing as MaleShep and FemShep equally. I think they're both great, and they both work well for the story in my opinion. I don't ever play as default for either I enjoy making my own Shepard.

Before she was anime-porn hot, now she's realistic-hot and the fun of playing her from reluctant hero to vengeful badass was really well done.

she either sounds like shes bored, tired, trying to sound badass (and failing), or specifically for romances: in a bloody porno

So what exactly is the problem/point here?

"I don't want to-"

Then don't do it.

"But I don't feel good about-"

I don't ****ing care. Just play a guy and get on with it.

"But how are people suppose to pay attention to m-"

End of line.

maybe....but to deprive yourself of a great game just because the protagonist is a female is rather.....well, stupid.
