EA budgeting strategy

Sorry, don't want to sound like a jerk but I just couldn't find more logical reasons

They have no use anymore, Warden can be indisposed for various reasons (eluvian, calling, ultimate sacrifice)

Hawke is just an overrated protagonist, And Cassandra severely overestimates his power and influence (because he has none)
Best case for him is that he became a Stand Up Comedian who does weekly shows at the local comedy club.

Isn't it obvious? They're trying to evade taxes.

On a serious note, the warden... I think he could be investigating stuff about the blight. Like, how to avoid the Calling, similar to how Avernus did.
Hawke, on the other side... I think he's trying to keep a low profile, considering that either all the mages or all the templars are searching for him for revenge.

I still think they're both investigating the primeval thaig(s) and the red lyrium situation - but who knows, really.

I think the epilogue of Awakening said the Warden eventually just disappeared, and either it implied (or I assumed) that it meant she went off on some adventure in some land that is not on our current map of Thedas. Just cos she got bored.

I could see my Warden getting bored with post-blight life and doing that. So if that ends up being the big secret instead of something sinister, I won't be horribly disappointed.

Hawke too, I suppose, could have just gone "F this, get me out of this land of crazy people."

For me? My Cousland walked into the Eluvian with his lover Morrigan to raise his son. My Amell just went to  find more power or I don't know; He left his girl Leliana all alone though:( My Hawke is mystery to me.

My hope/prediction is that the Warden and Hawke have put together a secret, Illuminati-esque group of powerful / influential people to deal with even greater problems down the line.

And at the end of DAI, I can imagine some rousing cinematic as the Inquisitor is invited to join this group. ;)

I'm content creating a new character. It's not uncommon in "hero's journey" myths for the protagonist to disPeer of the scene in order for a new protagonist to rise. My guise is that there is no specific in game reason other than to facilitate story.

My Warden died a hero and my Hawke mucked everything up and ran away like the coward he is.

my Warden probably got lost in the deep roads, and Hawke changed his first name to Ethan and went to Hollywood

Because..... I got nothing

I'd have loved a DA2 to be played as an imported Warden over Hawke, but I'd rather play a hagfish than that moron

I don't see why you should call Hawke a moron, but whatever suits you...

They didn't disappear. My warden is dead and Hawke got out of Dodge while the getting was good. (And good riddance.)

I think its an easy out to either have them justfiably never show up again or to have them make some sort of return in whatever way BioWare sees fit regardless of where the player last left them.

Personally, unless they show up in some way where the player can control them again, I hope they're never seen again.

I'd like to point out to people that if your Warden is dead then they're looking for the Orlesian Warden who existed in DAA. Even if you didnt play Awakening it's part of the "default".

I have a theory that Hawke is going to be Varric's primary motivation. Since DA2: Exalted March was scrapped the potential events of such will be the primary interest out our favorite chesthair-clad dwarf.
