I want to see video of them all waking up as if from a dream and realising that action mechanics have no place in an RPG.
What would you most like to see in the dev diaries?

Maker preserve us when the BSN finds out that not only is Cullen not a companion, but that he will be killed off screen in a Twitter comment. Maker preserve us...
BAHAHHAA xD
This would be priceless, Mike, if you are truly the troll of trolls you would do this for the lolz. Not REALLY do this, but just keep it lingering in twitter for about 2 weeks xD

I'm actually quite serious.
Talk about the game is secondary.

Today, more fans proclaimed from their rooftops with their laptops that if we do not insert a certain feature, they will boycott any and every Bioware product we make from here on out. Alas, though my statements said we cared little I now hope they do not leave us. Whatever would we do without them?
Their heavy usage of noxious vernacular and their aggressively hyperbolic statements are what we live for! Without them, why... we may have to shut down Bioware.

Silliness is fine sometimes, but i'm not a fan of it replacing actual news.
But I suspect that's what will be in it. So I'm not entirely sure it's worth my time.

Dev diaries are just about the process. It's how the sausage is made.
You'll some silliness, because people are silly sometimes when they make sausage. You'll see some gameplay tidbits, because you'll get to see some of the finished sausage product.
But mostly you'll see sausage being made. If you are interested in the process of sausage making, and how your favorite brand in general makes THEIR sausage, then you'll probably enjoy it.
But they don't make a four/five part dev diary session that is nothing but gag reels. Nor is this going to be a commercial or in-depth reveal of the game. It's just going to be a sausage making documentary.
Hopefully they don't troll everyone and make the dev diaries about ACTUAL sausage making. That would be... unfortunate.

Sorry Jimmy, this clearly has become a food thread (apparently). So maybe it won't be about making sausage, but it could be about making the best poutine

Sooo expecting Paradox-esque dev diaries would be a mistake then?
Well... as Allan might say, it may be best to have no expectations at all. If you have a wish list of stuff you are imagining will be revealed/discussed, there is a pretty high chance you'll be disappointed. It may be best to just keep an open mind and take what comes.
That being said, Paradox and Bethesda are more to my tastes with the level of detail AND gameplay demonstration when talking about their games, showing how the underlying mechanics work as proof that their objectives are being met. Bioware, in my experience, tends to have their dev diaries/pre-release interviews as all very high-level and conceptual.
"We're going for a more cinematic approach in this game." Or "we want to make combat feel more reactive and fluid." Talking more about the ideals of the design team (which are important) than the actual systems and design in accomplishing said goals. There is nothing wrong with this, it is just my own preference that more mechanics details are given, rather than interviews with different developers about more conceptual ideas behind the game itself.

I understand that. I've watched a few "Wingman's Hanger"s from Star Citizen and come to the understanding that providing new information about the game is really tertiary. Even their daily feed has tons of stuff about bizarre lore when we've seen 5 minutes of cinematic game footage.Fast Jimmy wrote...

What a Dev Diary is not- Showing what things will be in the game
What a Dev Diary is- Showing the process of how the devs make the game
Its how, not what.
What you might see- A talk with the composer of the soundtrack/score, going over how he/she is putting together the tracks we'll be hearing in the game. A talk with the lead gameplay designer going over how they are putting together the motions characters will use in battle. A talk with the head writer going over how ideas are put together for the scripts and dialogue we'll hear in conversation. A talk with the voice over director about how he/she interacts with the voice actors and actresses over the delivery for their respective characters.
What you won't see- People telling you where we're going, who we're going with, who's the goodie goodie and who's the baddie baddie, whether ponies will be in the game, etc etc

Yes that's been covered, thank you for harping on it some more but then the thread is not "What do you think a developer diary is?" but What would you most like to see and that is what people are saying. What they would like to see most.
As for me I would like to see the coffee makers powered by the tears of the fans, the window puppies and kittens are thrown out of when toggles are mentioned, the intern eating pet dragon and if David Gaider has anything new or interesting on his desk with the plushie broodmother.

There are studios that do "Dev Diaries" which are sneak peeks into features as well (Paradox does these) so people thinking that that is what they'll be aren't way out in left field.

As per Allan Schumacher, Thedosian break dance battles to be revealed in DA:I dev diaries.
Semi-confirmed rumor.
