I've just realised that there are no exclusively homosexual characters in DAO. This is an outrage!

I checked Ask.com for you, OP, to see if I could dredge up any useful info.
How to Make Someone Gay?
Answer
There is no easy way to make someone gay but you could try by introducing them to gay people of the same sex or taking them to gay places such as bars or parties..
Thanks, Ask.com.
I guess your best options are to try taking him to the Gnawed Noble Tavern or by introducing him to Zevran. If neither of those things work, well, I don't know what to tell you. Best of luck, though!

Nnnnnope! Your male PC's love will just have to be unrequited, I'm afraid.

I have never seen an exclusively homosexual male companion in a Bioware game.
At least not in Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Memory is foggy for Jade Empire and I don't know about NWN/BG.
EDIT: And it's about time. Seriously. Just one in a game.

Pretty sure that guy Steve from ME3 was exclusively gay. I'm pretty sure he wasn't romance-able by femShep?
But hmm yes more would be good. Variety is always good.

What part of:
Shepard: "Y U CRYING MATE?"
Steve: "My husband died. You know. HUSBAND. As in... I'm gay."
did you miss?
(Ok, ok, it's exaggerated, but as soon as he specifically mentioned that his husband died, it was a no brainer to know he was either gay (or bi, but I figured he was gay as a way of giving homosexual Shepards an exclusive romance as well)
HAVING THAT SAID, back to the topic:
Unfortunately you'll have to play as a fem!Warden if you legitly want to romance Alistair without mods/cheating.

Steve isn't a companion. I chose my words carefully. He's a love interest NPC, but he's not the companion aka person you take into battle, with skilllines and orders etc. 'Companion' is a specific term with RPGs, but especially Bioware ones.
There's only Kaidan, who is as far as we can see, either bisexual or Shepsexual.
Guys, I even romanced Steve on a playthrough. I know about him, his whole story. lol
For female (again not exclusive) homosexual pairings with companions though, there's pretty much Liara, and we should all know Bioware's weird stance on that ![]()
So yeah, I think if Bioware wanted to break ground like they used to do more distinctly, it would be to have either a male or female companion that can only be romanced by the same gender protagonist. I don't really care though.
Alistair likely has a ton of s/s mods ![]()

It is quite funny when he calls you a queen, though...

LOL Well my Warden did have to dress in drag the first time he talked to him.

Wade and Herren show no attraction to women.
Strictly speaking, they don't show any attraction to men (including each other) either. ![]()

Okay um... I just happened to google Alistair and gayness and modding yesterday and came across a mod that DOES allow him to be gay WITH the appropriate dialogue. Link here.
Looks like it involves a bit more work than just downloading and installing the mod but apparently it can work??? Anyone want to give it a shot and see how it goes? I definitely will in my next playthrough but that might be a while.

"Buyer beware" this mod has a lot of issues. Reading posts on that forum page and looking over posts on the mod's commentary pages, some people managed to get it to work, some people couldn't at all, some had issues whenever trying to remove the mod, breaking their game, and Alistair still remained gay. Also it appears you don't get a voice over whenever he refers to your character as male, it's silent. I am unsure if the modder completely removed the voice over or just removed the portions of the dialogues where Alistair refers to the warden as a female. I'm not going to install this to test it, since I already have one alistair.dlg mod installed already.
It is also not tested with other mods (particularly Alistair dialogue ones, like IRS:Alistair--which I have and has an optional version for a 'gay Alistair' which plays well except for the dialogue not being changed, only the circumstance of the warden's gender--and Equal Love--which i don't have, but know of) that do similar, and play nice with other mods you may have installed.
In other words, I'd pass, but the choice is yours.

It's down to budget limitations. They can only have so much dialogue, and romances are optional content, so they prefer to have four romancable companions rather than six. And with four, having them all bi-/player- sexual makes more sense than two gay and two straight.

Well yeah. And I still think it's stupid (though I can 100% buy into a bisexual Kaidan*) and a lacking representation of sexuality.
I think it would have been both amazing and hilarious to have Vega be only romancable with a male Shepard. And funny thing is, knowing the people I know, I would have totally believed it.
*Sorry I'm more of a Mass player.

I'd think that it'd be cool if we stopped judging characters and wanting characters for what they are, and caring more for who they are. My sexuality does not control my personality 24/7, in a video game character, even less. It's such a small portion of an otherwise vastly unrelated person. Would you really be happier if someone said in a passing glance, "Hey, by the way I like dudes, and only dudes. But let's never talk about that again." Really?

Care about 'who people are'? This is the forum where a generation of straight male gamers viscerally hated on Zevran because they didn't read between the lines of his dialogue and ended up watching their macho characters having a sex cinematic with him.

A while ago, I saw a thread about a mod that made Samantha Traynor straight, and the OP took so much heat from upset lesbians that I had to shield my eyes.
I'm not saying anything, this is merely an observation.

That logic doesn't work with me because if we followed it, that would let Bioware just make a fully heterosexual cast without any chance for a PC to s/s romance them. Because, you know, they're just characters.

Yes, if you're playing a female PC. Possible romance line if male PC. Of course vice versa for the other gender.
