Tried a sniper build for my Volus Adept to finally complete the Javelin challenge. Headshoting mooks is fun, but is there perhaps a sniper rifle better suited for the little unassuming guy?

I don't snipe with my volus adept, but what about Valiant ? It's lighter than the Javelin but delivers nonetheless a good punch.

Definately the Valiant. Put on some phasics and aim between the eyes.

Arc is good yeah, sou can also use Paladin with a scope if you're feeling nostalgic. It can pretty much OHK any mook on gold if you go for the head. Even phantoms go down in two or three shots.
Pocket sniper that weights almost nothing.

Valiant is pretty good and you can set him up for extremely forgiving CDs with it.

Kishock is also pretty awesome.

well if you are going for short cooldowns, probably the indra, otherwise whatever you prefer

if you want to use stasis for sniping I'd actually recommend using pistols. the arc pistol and suppressor, but the carnifex and paladin would be good options as well

my favorite volus adept build uses a suppressor and an CSMG. use the CSMG for big and boss units, use the oppressor to headshot the rest

Allow me to suggest something a little different: The Collector Sniper Rifle.

It laughs at shield-gate, which allows you to take a different ammo type to phasics while still killing stasis'ed marauders etc. before they hit the floor.

If you use your biotic orbs offensively use incendiary ammo to get FE's on armoured foes as well as the usual BE's on stasis'ed foes.

If you just use your orbs to improve the cool-downs on stasis and shield boost, take warp ammo to improve the CSR's damage, especially vs armoured targets or stasis'ed enemies.

Use shield boost and defensive stance to get I-frames when the CSR starts getting hot to give it time to cool and avoid overheating, fixing one of the CSR's main drawbacks.

The kishock, valiant, and indra are also decent options.

Valiant. It's practically made for Stasis sniping on Gold. One headshot for unshielded infantry, two for shielded, three for Phantoms, all without breaking Stasis. (don't use Phasic/Disruptor if you don't want Stasis breaking early)

Tried Suppressor and Carnifex. It's still more fun with Javelin
