I can never beat the character creator ( it always murders my customs) so i go to default out of spite

My hope is that the things on the default character(hair styles and such) will be available for the custom characters. In DA2 I ended up never making a custom femhawke because I wanted the default hawkes hair(I am a little obsessed with it)

^ my male Shepards were all meticulously crafted for the main purpose of serving as eye candy while playing. People here vastly underestimate the character creator. Granted, only 2 facial structures were acceptable.

Edit: this was in response to before page

Why would you ever want to use defaults?

Not everyone enjoys the same aspects of gaming. Some people enjoy spending hours in the CC creating their PC, others just want to jump in the game. Nothing wrong with either.

why would you want to waste time creating a character that differs in no way from any other except cosmetically?
some people like the default(me included) and having made custom characters and used defaults...what does it matter?

To about 95% of DA fans, character creation is not even close to a "waste of time"

i don't actually view it as a waste of time, but I was responding  in kind to his view of defaults. Also, 95% might be a bit high.

In the case of Shepard, the default male face was vastly more detailed than what the chargen could have created. This was also true, but to a lesser degree, in DA2. I ended up using them instead of the chargen for most of my characters.

So yeah, I hope they do have some good default faces for each race/sex.

If it were a default head as well made as Default Sheploo, sure, maybe I'd use it in at least one playthrough.

If it were a default head that looked like ME3 Default FemShep, no thanks.

I enjoy the CC too much to pass it up, so I never use defaults.

I don't mind the default faces I use them some times what I really wanted for this game was to keep the MC completely hidden till we play the game I liked the first teaser trail fires above when all you get is the silhouette of your character in the sand storm.

Are they even going to have face-scanned defaults?

Because of the race selection, we may go back to Origins style—generic heads for everyone!

One of the better ones I've seen, I'll concede that! Do the animations for various emotional states translate especially well on him, though? What I've found from watching friends' files is that while default male is far from peerless in that regard, everyone else's can be terrible at times.

Another problem I have is after four default runs it's weird hearing Meer's voice out of anything else, but I fully admit that's a "me" thing. :P

The animations and emotions look good on him, but not all of my customs. There is one mouth specifically that is really awkward. (The super frowny male one). As for the voice thing, it usually weirds me out on my second playthrough of a game, but I love both replaying games and making characters so I get used to it by the third run.

If there are default faces that are more carefully crafted (like Sheploo and default Hawkes) I would like the option to customize them. I really don't like "the default face or start from nothing" that were the only options in the past games.

There were so many times when I just wanted to change the hair or eye colour of the defaults but you couldn't. It was also annoying that only the default femHawke had that short hairstyle that I wanted to use soooo much.

I always go to the character creator, but defaults are useful. Sheploo, for example, is what I'd use for a fail run.

I liked the default Shepards and Hawkes well enough, and since I'm too lazy to bother with something that's only cosmetic, the defaults were also rather convenient.

I just don't understand why some people don't like the cosmetic aspects. I'm obsessed with CCs and building and customizing things. I play the sims 3 just to make people and houses lol.

I'm fine with having defaults, but I don't like default-specific things. Anything on the default should be accessible in character creation.

All I know is if the beard I want on my character is only on the default face i'm gonna rage so hard that every table in my town will be flipped.

I'm willing to play with a character creator. But my results often look like escaped lab experiments...

The resources can be spent elsewhere...why wasting time making a lot of models and meshes for custom characters while peoples just use the default ones?

Because not everyone use the default faces

And there will always be default faces in the CC, it's basically the starting face you see plus the presets

I'll second that. I am just as likely to go with a default as I am to play with the CC.

majority use the default face, majority wins

Do you have data to prove that?

I'll third it. Hooray for options!
