I don't mind defualt characters. In some games that let you modify characters, you can actually pick a default and start customizing off it. What I'd really like to see is a character creation system like Final Fantasy 14's, where you can change the background and lighting to really see what you are making.

That would be awesome. If they could replicate a range of in-game lighting in the cc, we could get an idea of how the colors and textures will look on average. I would also like some way to see facial animations during cc. DAO kind of let us, but having the character "talk" during voice selection. However, since DA2 had a set voice, we had to wait until a cutscene to see how our Hakwes looked while talking and being more expressive.

I would really like it if you could customize the default, or use is as a starting point.

I'm fine with having defaults, but I don't like default-specific things. Anything on the default should be accessible in character creation.

Exactly, I only ever used the default f!Hawke because I wanted the blood and her facial structure but it was impossible to get. They also made her face the slimmest one in the whole group. She was like a whole different breed from the other presets and as a console player I don't have the luxury of modding her up.

So by "in game lighting" the idea is mostly just really bright (diffuse, not specular) lighting?

DA2 had a dark background, which made it difficult for me to examine dark hair colors on my PC. It'd be great to have a brighter background color in the CC.

I loved default male Hawke in the trailers and screenshots, but he looked like ass in game. Thankfully, it seems they fixed facial hair.

By the love of all that is holy there better be some proper looking defaults.... I really cannot be arsed with sitting around NOT playing the game that I intend to play just so that I may eventually get to play the game... Character creation is all fine and dandy for the ones who like to create every last detail of the characters with loving attention, for the rest of us who really do not ahve time for that, let us just get some proper looking defaults and preset and get playing.

You're not alone. I rather spend alot of time creating my character than rushing into the game and finding out that my character look's terrible in-game and having to start a new save. I don't see the problem with defaults. You don't like, don't use them.

Lol, the same. I want my pcs to be classy.  B)

Otherwise, I don't know but In bioware's games I find it more difficult to have pretty males; Especially in Mass effect. God, I am going to tell the truth, I played much more with femshep, just because she looked way better.

In DA, I managed to be satisfied with my male warden and my male Hawk, BUT we can't keep our facial features.... I find it really annoying.

I hope the defaults are well-done but I also want to be able to modify the defaults. I'm one of those people that spends a lot of time on the CC and a good "base" to work from makes the job of creating a character I like much easier. Often the default is the best of all the preset choices to work from which makes it frustrating when they lock that option. A good default is good both for those that don't like to use the CC and those that do (well, so long as the default isn't locked).

I don't get why I have to use mods to be able to modify the default fem!Hawke preset. Why is that face so "special" that they won't let players change it a little? It has no negative impact on Bioware if players can change the default or not...

Have to agree on the lighting as well. I usually have to start the game all over again at least two-three times the first time I play it (if the game has a CC) because the result looks so different in-game compared to in the CC.

Yeah, the defaut face is far more accurate than anything else. I think everyone would be glad to be able to modify it. I wish I could do so with maleshep.
