Actually, that's partially rhetorical, since I know people are still speed running. I maxed my manifest in November after a solid month of speed running. I continued speed running because I actually enjoy playing the game that way, as well as playing it straight. Mid-January, I decided to start a new profile to see how far I could get in a month (30 days of free Gold subscription, as I wasn't planning on paying for two at a time) and how much I would hate not having my max manifest; the plan was to play mostly Platinum the way I currently do, and do speed runs if at all possible, which meant that I had to come up a strategy for speed running involving a Volus engineer (I got my DAI and GI almost last out of all the characters) and less than 8/9 rockets (I wanted to do the Jade Cerberus speed run, as it seems the cleanest in terms of spawn-forcing).

I unfortunately got Armored Compartments pretty early on, and I ended up having touble finding speed run partners until late in my 30 day trial, when some of my usual partners came back from brief hiatuses. I discovered that you can do the Jade speed run between 10 and 11 minutes on average even if one of your partners has only 6 rockets, which allowed me to assist another friend who had started over "earn [some] credits" before acquiring AC in any form. My manifest for the 30 days is visible in my sig for those interested in the exercise.

I'm now back to my regular profile, playing with a max manifest, and still playing every day. Yesterday morning one of my speed run partners maxed his manifest, but another still has 74 to go, so I expect we'll still be speed running and playing regular Platinum for the foreseeable future. My friend whose manifest we just maxed and I have been looking to branch out: I know it's been done, but we want to work on a Condor speed run. I personally want to try the Goddess speed run, and in general, we're thinking of adding Glacier back to the rotation for variety. But first, we're going to try to find self-described speed run nerds like me who want to spend time and equipment on Condor Platinum fine-tuning the Condor speed run.

If this is something that would interest you, feel free to let me know; I can clear some dead weight from my Xbox FL. If this is a travesty and I should "just play the game," I apologize for forcing you to read the topic and then forcing you to play in my private speed run lobby. If LOL ecks bawks, uh, sure, that too.

For reference, Jade Cerberus speed run with only 6 rockets:
I recommend at least two DAI with duration cloak and adrenaline. I recommend at least one skilled sniper on the ammo box position, to pick off (via Javelin, preferably) engineers, dragoons, and troopers in the spawn attic.
Wave 1, one rocket, wait for second spawn to finish, kill everything with guns/powers while staying close to position (ammo box snipes).
Wave 2, ibid.
Wave 3: if targets, each target gets one of your remaining four rockets. Once final spawn is in place, take out with guns/powers.
Rest of the speed run as normal. Once your low-level friend has ACI, wave 3 gets cleaned up very quickly. Once they have ACIII, they move their rocketing responsibility to waves 9 and 10 and start on ammo box, and you can slot in the next n00b with only 6 rockets (or the next veteran with a brand-new account).

To re-iterate: if you are interested in helping us break Condor for fun and (in-game) profit, let me know. If you're a Themed Duo/Solo player, speed runs are outstanding for building up credits for trio/duo/solo gear.

Team speedruns are dead. Solo speedruns are just about dead too

I respectfully disagree; I've got full teams for Jade speed runs done for credits, and three self-professed speed run nerds looking to break Condor. I wouldn't be surprised if I can find that elusive fourth speed run nerd. It won't be the pioneers who showed us how to speed run in the first place; those guys have moved on. But I love this game, and I love breaking the maps and putting them back together; I would not be surprised to find a few other like-minded individuals. Possibly not on BSN, but it's not a bad place to start.

Speed runs are very much alive. People just don't usually make threads about them because at this point in the game's lifespan, almost everyone who is interested either has a regular group or knows somebody with a group.

I'd like to help, but I'm on PS3.

FR sent. Are you interested in squeezing Jade for credits, breaking Condor, or both?

Send me a FR as well. I'd like to do Jade runs so I can get closer to maxing my manifest. GT: SheerCold86

FR sent. We definitely have a few people we can rotate trying to max manifests and/or experienced in speed running, so we'll get you there.
