I am wondering if this title will be able to be installed from the disks rather than DL. Having to spend hours installing  and/ or re-installing a few recent titles from DL makes this Techless One yearn for the ease of disks actually being used if possible. Of course, I could be in error as the disks used could have had full installs on them, but they all seemed to default to DL sites.

Thanks for any helpful clarifications!

For current gen, they'll have to either have an installation disk like Grand Theft Auto V, or spread the game out over multiple disks like Mass Effect 2 & 3.

I personally hope for the former, as the latter would be a bleeding hassle.

Honestly if they are going to the route of install disks you figure they would include a copy of the Keep for offline players to still be able to customize their world state.

I hear your pain, I had ridiculously slow internet when I first bought Skyrim and it kept downloading instead of installing from disc. Eventually I found a way to make it install from the disc but for a while I wondered why on earth I had bothered buying a hard copy of the game.

There are usually work arounds but it would be nice if when you buy the game on disc, it installed from the disc.

I'm hoping that there's only one "Play Disc" while the other is simply an "Install Disc", much like how GTA5, COD: Ghosts, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, etc. have done on current gen consoles.

ME3 can install from the disk after you add it to Origin.

Pls allow the Player to install from the disk, if they are actually made and sold in that format. So many things can go wrong during a DL, and having to re-start the process is annoying esp if one has little knowledge of Tech to aid in speeding things along.

Pretty good chance you will have to DL the latest patch anyway. Disks are usually pressed a few weeks before the release date and they will likely have to be updated anyway since the development/bug squashing is still in full gear after those disks were made.

Me personally, LOVE the download age. I even repurchase old games I have on disk from digital distributors just so I don't have to use the old disk anymore.

Most places allow you to pre-load the software anyway, so its pretty much ready to go right from the start.

I also have obtained some older titles, DLC's, patches, etc, but these do not usually take multiple hours. However, some games take much more time, and the internet is not always stable. And I for one enjoy having a title in hand; not always able to connect.

Any updated info on this subject yet? I lost service for a few hours this past week, and was only able to replay some older games while the problem was solved. It would be great if new games would also allow Players the freedom to play offline, or at least reinstall the game from the purchased disks.

Thanks for helpful replies!

But patching should always be optional.  If I want to play the vanilla game, I should be able to do that.

Forced patching is only acceptable for multiplayer games (and even that is only made necessary by the failure to support LAN multiplayer).

Few games can be played without patching I'm afraid. Mainly due to services such as steam and origin.
