I need some advice, folks. I love Mass Effect, and a computer capable of gaming has recently come into my life, hallelujah! Obviously now I need the PC versions. But my question is; Which ones?

The trilogy sounds great. Three games in one, woo! But I hear some dlc content is missing, bummer.
Love the convenience (and sometimes sales, yay!) of buying digitally, but I really don't want to download Origins to install my game, and then have it run in the background the entire time I play.

So, do I run around buying the physical copies? Will I still have to install Origins if I buy the physical copy? Do I need to have the disc in my computer to play? If it's a used copy, can I run into any problems if someone's registered it for online play?
Or, do I suck it up and buy the digital copies on sale?

You are in the wrong BSN forum, I think.  This is for BSN's online store, not for Origin, nor for Mass Effect.  You want the General Subjects forum here:

You'll need Origin for the retail Trillogy Edition and ME3 anyways, so you won't be able to get rid of it, might aswell get the Trillogy.

As in "missing some DLC", you only get Bringing Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station for ME1 and the Cerberus Network ones for ME2, you have to buy everything else.

I think if someone registered it for Origin, you'll need that account in order to play, so there is no used game market for games registered on online distribution platforms.
