It's understandable, the DrellGuard is very lag intolerant, and not everyone can or will host.

I don't play him much either for that very reason, but if I inherit a lobby and I'm not playing with people on the other side of the planet (making them lag), I'll stick around and break out the venom DrellGuard.

I actually prefer to play him off-host. I just said "wat" because Tigger said he hadn't played him much and I think everyone should. He's a tremendously fun character.

I rarely use any Vanguard. I'm still traumatized from the days when Biotic Charge meant you had a 50-50 chance of ending up either 100 feet underground or half a mile up in the air.

I 'd probably go with the Demolisher, I love her heavy melee but I can never justify putting points in fitness for
a proper build.
