Drat, Elder, I don't believe it did. I feel like I probably would have recognized that if it were so. Interesting that she would still be the one to come despite not necessarily running down a real romance path -- wonder if the modifier is "closest thing to one" if not?
OMG Reverie, that is fabulous.

I honestly don't know. I always took the other option.

Heh, it's cool. That's just not how Garrett felt. :P

I would seriously recommend starting with Legacy and then doing MotA. Both were really well done DLCs. You're gonna have a blast. You might even want to do them back to back.
:D

Nifty. That's probably what I was going to do.

Something I can't figure out for the life of me: why does the journal entry for MotA ask me if I remember "that incident at Chateau Haine"? Because I really, truly... Don't.

Yeah, the way it is was written makes it out to seem like you are reliving a memory through the DLCs, which you technically are, since this is all what Varric remembers.

As for Isabela... well, as I recall, back in early Act 2 we banged, and she said she hoped Garrett wasn't developing real feelings, and he said he wasn't, that what they had was indeed fairly skin-deep. Which it pretty much was. But the heart symbol options continued and I've continued opting to flirt with her left and right. Whether that means true romance or not, I like what they have!

Actually that can break the romance.

Have fun with the rest of the game (of course, by your speed you have already done so).

Ah well, technicalities! They're still great together in every scene.

Technicalities, right! Considering I'm nowhere near any US time zones... :wizard:

*cough* Right, Legacy is still worth playing for Hawke's (not really a spoiler) Legacy.

Anyway, your posts are certainly worth an essay or two - a couple of study credits for social anthropology maybe?

I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the sign of the romance the red bandana?

Oh man, if I could get credits for this I would probably never stop doing it.

Probably a good thing then...!

Not only the bandana. The black corset and the piece of armour on her shoulder are added with the romance.

Depends on who you are romancing.

That's why I took a video game writing course at my university. I got to write several Dragon Age themed papers.

I got a 100 on my Ronald Taylor fanfiction, so at least there's that. :P

Ah, irony! I haven't played the DLC, so I shall not read those posts lest I spoil myself!

And Jeff- I could be persuaded to give you my in-character-ish rundown if you'd like, over a great deal more time than you have. Would you like it via PM or somewhere more public?

About the Isabela romance, if you sleep with her but then break off any chance of a relationship (telling her it was just for fun), she will still get the romanced outfit with the armband and everything, but you can still romance someone else. I know, because in the game I'm playing now my male Hawke slept with Isabela but then locked in the relationship with Merrill. They are both now wearing their romanced outfits. lol.

It's funny, because Varric commented on the situation something along these lines...

Varric: "So, Hawke and Daisy?"

Isabela: "They're adorable."

Varric: "I thought you'd be jealous. Didn't you and Hawke...?"

Isabela: "That was just a dalliance. You know I've always had my eye on you, Varric."

XD

In case you haven't already done your third playthrough :D

Legacy and MotA address quite a few of the complaints in the main game - including parachuting enemies and recycled maps.

Legacy does have a tricky 'hidden boss', so bewarned.

Edit: Some notes on your previous post:

Clearly this was Act 2's point of no return. If Act 3 masks that point in ambivalence, at least the first two thirds had the common courtesy to make it fairly apparent. We marched in, Isabela too gone to bother commenting this time. The conversation started off smoothly enough. Garrett had built up an impressive reserve of respect for some of his actions. It's at this time that I want to ask you brilliant friends of mine: is it possible for the Arishok not to think highly of Hawke? Do choices throughout Act 2 dictate their relations?

Arishok's reaction depends entirely on your in-game interactions with him. He can view you as the "basalit-an" :wizard: or not  .

Not far into the bloodbath we helped a Grey Warden by the name of Stroud. I feel like I know that name. Was this guy in Awakening? No, right? Maybe I've just seen him mentioned on the boards. I don't know. Well there was an air of familiarity about it all, but I peg that mainly on the combined 95 hours I spent as a Grey Warden myself. That's probably all it is. In any case he was on urgent business, the likes of which is either known and I missed a beat somewhere or is otherwise the source of intense speculation across the fandom.

As said above, if you take both your sibling (Bethany in your case) and Anders into the Deep Roads, Anders will take her to Stroud to join the GWs. You'll meet her in this scene.

with the long-heralded introduction of Knight-Commander Meredith Stannard. Well it's about bloody time, writers! I would have been done with Mass Effect 1 by now.

Actually, you do see Meredith in act 1. She is the woman you see at the beginning of the cutscene of Varric and the cutpurse.

...and then he let Orsino make a distraction and in a flash the cunning elf made me forget all about that because holy mabari this dude's *legit.* Way to steal thunder... well he could steal every element he wished if he kept that up.

That scene is one of my favorites.

Nope, didn't have time to play tonight (for real this time), heh heh. I'll have a new update by Friday morning though. Got two classes and I need to do some home improvement stuff tomorrow and then I'm good to go.

Meredith was in that scene? Wow...!

Yup, you see her very early in the game! She passes right by that cutpurse and gives him a very stern glance. Haha.

You've moved through the game pretty rapidly, haha. Yeah, Leandra's death didn't resonate with me at all. It was a combination of her overall characterisation, use and the quest itself. The whole 'Frankenstien's monster' aspect was pretty awful and didn't have the desired effect as far as I was concerned.

The whole episode with the Arishok was pretty brilliant though.

Oh yeah, might have been my favorite part even. The tension, the outbreak of hostilities, the fact that fighting through Kirkwall somehow managed to not feel arduous, Meredith and Orsino, Hawke takes the lead, the old guard fading in a blaze of insurrection, Isabela returns, the duel, the applause.

Aces.

Spring break has arrived! I'll actually have several lingering responsibilities throughout but odds are very high I'll have concluded this journey within the next few days. Should have a little time later but regardless I'll be back to fast pacing over the weekend.

Ah cannae wait, lads n' lasses.
