Sebastian's okay, but his DLC has the flaw of completely breaking the flow of one of the ending scenes.

Shhhhhhhh, no spoiling!!!

Sebastian is... alright. He just preaches a lot. I think that when it comes down to it he is the kind of guy that is so nice he barely makes an impression.

And, I told once I would show you my Warden once my computer got fixed right? Well, there you go:

Studly, Jaison! Great pics, I'm happy you could share them.

I'll make replies to the rest of ye tomorrow, I need to catch some vital sleep. Y'see I've been playing DA2 these past few hours! I'll have a decent update sometime between classes tomorrow as well.

Since y'all are fairly keen on piecing these things together, here are my hints on what has transpired: I've done almost everything I can find before speaking with the Arishok, including winding up fighting one of my own in the Fade.

And that's two for two on rivaling the elves! :P

This just occurred to me but if you're playing on PS3 then did you also buy the two DLCs? If you did there's a major glitch you need to be aware of; if not disregard.

He said in the second post of this thread that he has all the DLC. Mark of the Assassin may corrupt save files on PS3.

What is exactly wrong in rivarling Merrill (Never did it, only know what people said)?

Because Marethari is full of utter crap, and falling for it means you badly hurt Merrill emotionally.

I don't quite agree with that. One can easily roleplay an Hawke that rivals Merrill not because they agree with Marethari, but because they don't agree with Merrill actions and worry she may hurt herself. And this comes from an person that dislikes Marethari.

Hmm, I feel like addressing this before tackling the rest of the replies/update later: I got +20 rivalry on Merrill because she failed to resist a demon's offer, not because of anything related to her former superior. O_o

OK, I haven't figured out if multiquoting is even possible via the mobile interface yet so I'm just going to respond in one fell sweep here to several of the most recent replies. Then I'll move into the update itself. :)

Sebastian's voice *is* pretty cool and I look forward to seeing what developments Act 3 brings for him.

Farscape movie, yes! We've been told various things have been in the works or at least envisioned for nearing seven years, though, so I'll not be getting my hopes up as yet. My first exposure to the internet outside of friends printing game walkthroughs out for me was the Save Farscape campaign and 14-year-old me got to go advertise for it alongside many likeminded fans and even some of the cast and crew (hence my meeting Claudia) so I have a really deep emotional connection with that show. For a long time I felt more pride in my work there than anything else I had done.

Mark of the Assassin may break my game, huh? I looked that up earlier. Seems the best thing is to not do it and Legacy in one file. But... that's balls, especially because I don't replay even BioWare games half as often as most of the other hardcore fans. Apparently it'll help if I make multiple save files? You folks did tell me before that they both mesh best with the story in Act 3, right? Just wondering when to start fearing the dread wolf now...

And thanks for the kind words, rapscallioness!

OK, update pending. Weekday, so it'll be cellular, so it'll *probably* be a bit less wordy than my weekend posts, but ha...

That sounds pretty damn cool! I would have loved to have experienced that, haha. Unfortunately I only took to Farscape years after it was already done and dusted. By years later, I mean 2012 D:

It was shafted pretty badly here in its original run which honestly baffles me considering the show was filmed in this bloody country. That's probably why I didn't really take to it at the time of filming. Well, the fact that I was pretty young and sheltered probably contributes too, lol. Still, really glad I picked it. Wasn't crazy about some of the things in the PK Wars but that's what you get for trying to compress a season into a miniseries. Remaining cautiously optimistic for the movie. Haven't had my hopes dashed as many times as you have yet. :P

Bioware have really contributed to me getting into a number of series, haha. ME2 inspired me to pick up Chuck (you know, Yvonne <3) and DAO prompted me to pick up Farscape (Claudia <3).

Still waiting for Browder to show up in DA! It needs to happen damn it! Have him play Morrigan's new paramour or something!

Garrett may have had a good long while to adjust to life on the top streets, but Jeff is still getting used to the glamor. I've had a lot of fun glancing at all the "Examine" options in the Hawke Estate multiple times.

But duty called, because Feynriel was in trouble. Garrett pushed him toward the Dalish three years ago, so he felt obliged to do his best to pull him from these nightmares. The situation was explained, and I rolled with Anders for great Justice, Merrill for elven understanding and Fenris in case I started going too soft and needed a harsh reminder of what I was dealing with out there.

I want to comment a smidge on a love/hate thing I have with ME3 and DA2: there's a lot of really pretty music in both these games that accompanies more well-choreographed emotional cutscenes than previous installments in their respective franchises but these touching moments are cursed by more abrupt musical cut-offs than before as well. The latest "this was great until an editor got angry"? Merathari gazing upon the tree in the Alienage mournfully, beginning her steps toward the house. This is something I never really see addressed on BSN, so I'm guessing most people are too perpetually out-of-shape over more player-agency regarded spectrums to care, but it irks me something fierce when "I Was Lost Without You" gets shattered by a loadif screen. Come on guys, it's me, I don't complain about much, fix this one thing going forward plz. ;_;

Anyway, relevant stuff! Boy, the Fade sure is significantly less tedious when you travel there of your own volition, huh? I loved getting to "be" other characters in the various segments. Not entirely sure if I'm supposed to have recognized that First Enchanter fellow already, though? Definitely an important position, so I imagine since they even went through the trouble of giving him a fairly unique design I'll be seeing more of him.

I didn't consort with any of the demons because Garrett trusted Justice's ample warnings and knew from experience anyway. This seemed to bother Merrill something awful, who became captivated with the Pride Demon's offerings and swiftly turned staff against us. Unfortunately for her dream-state self she started the battle off a scant meter from Garrett, who damn near instantly felled her. And that was probably a Very Good Thing for us -- I had her set up with that incredible blood magic gig and the last thing the three of us needed was zero damage resistance with a Pride Demon looming over us. I'm still not clear on the deal with Merrill, and I imagine that's intended, but I do know her people resented her, likely because she was working blood magic and open to demon diplomacy and such. She had a line before we went in about how flustered she was the Keeper would do this for the boy and not for her. I must confess I don't understand what's going on with her, even if I still can't help but love her...

DA2 has a slew of difficult decisions when it comes to this "smaller" stuff, but I wasn't about to kill this kid. Garrett knew he might live to regret his choice a hundredfold, but he shipped him off to Tevinter. I gotta say, this was... hard. I think I totally let what would have been insurmountable guilt get in the way of cold logic, and I don't know if I made the right decision. But I like that. I like that Aedan let Isolde sacrifice herself and gave isolationist Harrowmont the throne too -- I like not always being "right", I like not playing perfect shepherds. Possible pun intended.

Afterward, Merrill apparently wished to apologize, and I'll get on that next go-around, but there was further urgent business. We were strolling through the outer reaches, ascending Sundermount to the tune of a shockingly great number of new encounters (so, mental note: go everywhere again each Act, eh?) and checking out a "newly-opened passage" which played host to some of the most challenging fights I've yet seen, and eventually...

AMBUSHED! THE SLAVERS HAVE FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH FENRIS!

So we killed them (LOL plebz) but before Gideon Emery laid the raw smackdown on oddly-attractive-guy, he learned of a lackey of Danarius' located nearby. So we went back to the recently-opened passage (essentially) and took her down. After the slating Garrett pressed Fenris on his sister, and naturally Fenris snapped and stormed off.

It had been a long hard day and all Garrett wanted was a brisk relaxing bath but ahoy! Fenris. He wanted to apologize, too, *sorta*, and there was no putting this one off. But Garrett's sarcasm reflux disease didn't really jive and he basically stormed off again. Poor sod. In the morning Garrett went and gave him a present though, because there's no surer way in Thedas to make awkward moments pristine, and Fenris was like "-_-" but then he was all "^_^" for maybe *a milliscdnd* before reverting to "-___-;" and I got more rivalry points.

I actually really dig their relationship though. For as snapdragon as Fenris is, every now and then the two of them share some sort of warrior's pride moment and it's to be treasured.

More women have been dying lately and we were off to hopefully put an end to that. I feel for this old templar, no one ever takes him seriously. We went to Do-Pweeee's house and slew ourselves some Shades and Do-Pwee was all "aaah, weeee!" and Garrett and Varric made a friendly bet on what the excuse would be but in the end we believed the guy and... I think we may have been conned. *Frell.* Old templar fellow was set up and we took down the opposition. Haven't actually seen either character since, though, so yet another cliffhanger in Kirkwall Land.

Did some quests to help apostates, because that's how Garrett rolls. It appears a certain templar has been sacrificing goats, my friends, and not only that but doing demon-y things. Oh, and trafficking lyrium. What's that, Iron (and Invisible) Lady Meredith? *Now* you care? Aha, I seem someone's got their priorities all whack. Think of the goats, you bastards!

Next time on Garrett Hawke Sarcastically Smirks At The Free Marches: Merrill apologizes! And I have a gift for her too! Will it fix what has been broken? Or does the Dalish outcast hate bribery? And perhaps it is time to speak with that Arishok at last! Find out if Garrett can snicker and leer his way into preventing all-out war! (Probably not.)

I do have a question by the way. I'm working on more Herbalist's Tasks and I couldn't find that item that "I can't find by simply stumbling into it." Which really does mean I can't just explore for it, right? Or is the journal lying to me?

Keep in mind that some gifts can only be bought from marchants, so keep an eye in their wares for special items marked as gifts.

Great post.
For the Alchemist's Task, one item of the three isn't found by exploring. You have to ask someone. Do you know which materials you need (don't recall i the journal specified them)?
Knowing the materials, it should be fairly easy to get which one you have to ask someone, and where the person is.

You haven't seen him in-game at that point, no.

It is intended - all your companions save Anders and Sebastian (who will refuse to enter the fade) can succumb to one of the demons.

It means exactly what it says on the tin. You will get one during another quest, and another by asking around. You will get the needed quest later.

For the record, if you specced Merrill as a blood mage, you might want to max out friendship with her. It brings the blood/mana ratio to 1/3 instead of 1/2.
For curiousity, do you have the game updated to the last patch?

You can repair your friendship with Merrill at the apology scene, don't worry.

It's also not a reflection on her character; everyone is mind controlled in that scene except Anders; Fenris didn't do anything because the pride demon focused on Merrill, but if Wryme does go for Fenris, he'll fall too.

I love that scene with Marethari , but yep it got cut in a pretty abrupt manner.

Snarky Hawke is a blast , I know every time I replay the game , I can't help but keep on trolling.

It's something I really missed in ME3 , playing a hero who just can't seem to take things seriously.

Anyway I'm impatient to read what's going to happen , Act 2 is a bit of a emotional rollercoaster.

For the Alchemist's task there's one item at the Wounded coast. One item at the Dalish camp , and another during Merrill's personal quest.
