I need some advice, folks. I love Mass Effect, and a computer capable of gaming has recently come into my life, hallelujah! Obviously now I need the PC versions. But my question is; Which ones?

The trilogy sounds great. Three games in one, woo! But I hear some dlc content is missing, bummer. Love the convenience (and sometimes sales, yay!) of buying digitally, but  I really don't want to download Origins to install my game, and then have it run in the background the entire time I play.

So, do I run around buying the physical copies? Will I still have to install Origins if I buy the physical copy? Do I need to have the disc in my computer to play? If it's a used copy, can I run into any problems if someone's registered it for online play? Or, do I suck it up and buy the digital copies on sale?

You just need Origin to download Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 if you buy digitally, you can even uninstall Origin after installing them. Unfortunately even if you buy the physical copy of Mass Effect 3 you still will be required to have Origin running when playing the game.

As far as the DLC, to my knowledge the only DLC included in the PC version of the Trilogy is Bring Down the Sky for Mass Effect 1 and no other DLC is included.

If you aren't in a huge hurry, you can wait for Steam/Origin to put the digital versions on sale, I really don't know about the restrictions with used copies, for I know even Mass Effect 1 had a Key you needed to register for the game and you couldn't run the game without a new key.

Unfortunately you cant get rid of Origin no matter what version you buy. there is a sale currently on Origin for digital deluxe editions so you can buy them cheaper then usually. You could try that. Or you might buy a Trilogy pc version, but then you would have to buy a lot of dlc separately.

I like downloading my games for my PC.

Discs have always caused me problems with all the DRM crap..... No wonder PC are have such low sales numbers when people are talking abotu sales in the "boxoffice" since PC games bought in a box tends to be a DRM nightmare from my experience.

Never check for "boxoffice" nubmers when you want to know how well a PC game is selling... Because DRM crap is destroying the boxoffice sales. And online download sales don't tend to be available.

I've never had any problems with Origin myself. I also use Steam, and sometimes GamersGate for some games.

DRM crap is in all editions of the game, be it disc or digital. Certain games now seem more relaxed now in terms if DRM because everyone knows it doesnt work, just makes life difficult for paying customers and not for the pirates.

I'd get it digital if I were you. You're gonna need Origin anyway, so no real point in having the discs lying around.

Then again, I also got the trilogy for PS3, and I play that way more, so.

I have the physical copy of collectors edition of ME3, physical copy of ME1 and digital deluxe of ME2. I still like the feeling of actually having the discs. Plus the artbook is awesome.
