Claymore doesn't make phantoms moaning in pain while it is slowly but surely killing them.

(I mostly use a Claymore on my Huntress anyway so why not both)

It depends. Just equip the Acolyte with any kit and use it against Phantoms. I used to do that in the past.

Batarian blades into falcon punch is my favourite method of despatching phantoms.

Vorcha Sentinel w Flamer and a Reegar Carbine (Piercing Mod/Ammo Clip). Set up the Flamer for Damage, Duration and Armor Damage. Use the Reegar Carbine to melt away Atlas shields, then use the Flamer to melt away the armor. If you have your character set up just right, it takes little to no time on bronze or silver. Gold and Plat...that's a different story.
