I was having a conversation with my friend Inquisitor recon who is obssesed with dungeons. This made me wonder about icewind dale 2 and other dungeon crawlers.
So, What is your favorite dungeon BSN?

Ice Wind Dale is still one of my favorites.

Recon's dungeon still makes me worried.

Edit: THAC0 <3

For the sake of being hip, Arx Fatalis is a bundle of fun. No, really. Fantastic dungeon crawler/action RPG.

Icewind Dale has some magnificent looking environments, though.

Scholomance from World of Warcraft. I had a strong fascination with the concept of a School for Dark Arts Magic back then, and still do. It certainly had variety, and a fairly rare drop for the Dreadmist mask. I'd played that dungeon at least 40 times.

Honorable mention to Water Temple from Ocarina of Time - partly due to the music and its meditative atmosphere. I didn't find Water Temple much more frustrating than any of the others from OoT.

Ulduar from World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Still consider it the pinnacle of raiding in any mmo ever. 16 bosses, none of whom felt too similar to each other, 11 of whom had optional "hard modes" that greatly changed how the fight worked, awesome Norse aesthetic, and even had pretty good lore behind it. Some of my best raiding memories are from that place. I still run through the place with some other level 90s for nostalgia's sake.

Dark Soul's New Londo Ruins. That place is absolutely terrifying, even after 4+ playthroughs. That's gotta mean something.

Also I agree with you that IceWind Dale is a much much better game than Baldur's Gate 2.
...
Recon needs to perform 'Lupercalia' in order to purify from this pony filth.
---
Might and Magic series has the best of dungeons. They're too old for you kiddies to remember. Nuff said.

I am really starting to like SWOTORs Flash Points. A tank is not always needed and I really love the conversation system. I always have to giggle when there is a light sided groupmember beeing all friendly and paragon, only for my Inquisitor shocking someone to death in the end. Hehe ;)

And the fact that you can level with a high level friend in tactical flashpoints ( Your stats are getting a boost while in tactical dungeons) is nice too.

Durlags Tower from Tales of the sword coast. Just a great dungeon, devious traps, very tough great back story so that the traps and such made sense. Just a great great dungeon.

Both this and also Watchers keep from BG2:ToB really stand out for me.

Can't believe no one's mentioned the Modron Maze from PS:T yet. It can be pretty hard to get all the stuff you need there, because it's randomized, but the whole sequence is just a loving and hysterical send-up of all things dungeon-related. Essentially, this super-logical race known as the Modrons have created a dungeon simulator in an attempt to figure out what people find so fascinating about dungeons, and their interpretation of hack 'n' slash conventions is exploited for comic effect. Some of the wonderful things you can find here include "A Magic Item!" (does nothing at all) and "A Clue!" (It reads, "You now have a better understanding of what is going on").

Oh yeah, New Londo Ruins gets overlooked with all of the other super atmospheric areas. I never felt like I came across a ghost in any game after encountering the ones down there in that area. Those long sickle whips and the sound effects. I played offline and it took me a while to figure out transient curse to even engage them. And those bio masses down on the lower floor halfway through...first one I came across I got seriously scared. I was flasked out at about 1/4 health and ran into that sucker...scared the snot out of me. I love the fact you might see a certain higher level enemy only once or twice in the entire game at one spot only, then never again. It's why the atmosphere is so thick, partially. You just never know.
