Mass Effect 4 Villian Idea

So, I figured it won't be many more months before Mass Effect 4 is revealed along with it's plot, and before that happens, I'd like to suggest my own idea about ME4's potential antagonist.

After reading many fans voice who they believe it will be, could be, or should be, I've come to the conclusion on who "I" would like to see as the main villian.  Rather than introduce some new species or character into the fiction, why not use a great one you've already established.  In this case, the Yahg.  They're as powerful as krogan, as intelligent as asari, as cunning as salarians, and as driven as humans.

The idea that I had see's the galaxy mostly recovered from the Reaper war, and the Yahg are in the process of integrating into the galactic community.  Their argument to join the community after the first contact incident on Parnack is simple, they've matured as a race and learned from their past mistake.  Our protangist would stumble onto a plot revealing that the Yahg are planning coup, so to speak.  With intentions to take control of the galaxy.

That's the basis.

Please feel free to criticize this idea, elaborate on it, or post your own idea.

I don't think the yahg are capable of playing nice. Not as a species, anyway. Not even to backstab the Council. If they're going to be a threat, it's because they basically steamroll what's left of the Terminus Systems, subjugating all of its species and maybe even taking Omega as their new interstellar capital.

Awesome Idea.  Sounds like the beginnings of an empire.  A scary, scary empire.

Maybe that Volus bilionaire who was driven mad by his research of ancient artefacts, with his personal army of mercenaries and ships.

The next TIM!

Personaly I would prefer the Quarian Admiralty as a splintergroup, acting as provateers and plotting something big to retake their place as saviours of the Quarians even if the majority of Quarian people exiled them after an unforgivable crime agaisnt the Quarian people in an atempt to remain inpower.

They are devious enough, smart enough, and ruthless enough to make a good enemy. I prefer a smart interesting enemy over a hulking mountain of muscle that looks more like a Reaper Brute than a sentient being.

There are way to compensate, mechs, tanks, ships, VI's merchenaries, mutated abominations, plagues, stealth insertion teams through stealthships similar to that of the SR1 and 2. The Quarians has them, they probably used them back in ME2 to take Tali and her team to Halestrom undetected, and other places like the human colony that got hit by the Collectors.

Whoever it is, I would prefer it is it's a smart enemy, devious, ruthless enemy that would bomb and blowup their own people to accomplish their goal rather than a loud brute or a childish brat like KL..... More Gerrel and less KL.

I always liked the idea of a "Grim Terminus Alliance". We always heard that the Terminus was to be feared, but never saw why when the various pirates we encountered were steamrolled rather easily.

Now, Imagine a sequel where the species that have long been subjugated by the council have come to power in the terminus. The Geth and Quarians have made peace, either through cooperation or subjugation depending on ME3, and have built up a new society powered by VI, AI, and automated workers. The Krogan too have cured their genophage (it was only a matter of time) and expanded into the uncharted sections of the Terminus, able to colonize worlds others would have ignored and breeding into a large and formidable army.

The Quarians/Geth and Krogan would mostly mind their own business because neither can survive on the other's worlds (levo vs. dextro), but their rise in power would start to worry the Council species, who fear the unregulated use of the Geth could start a second Morning War or that the Krogan are poised for a second rebellion. Some big event happens, and all of a sudden the two sides are at war with the Protagonist in between and forced to either help one side or another.

Anyway, that's my idea for a sequel. The Old Order vs. The New, the Council which has for centuries stood as a beacon for stability and paragon virtues vs. the species of the Terminus, which are experiencing a chaotic renaissance but are seen by the rest of the galaxy as renegades. No real big bad here, but sides we can both understand but also hate.

My idea would be that krogan finally have learned how to live and let live, the thousands of worlds in unexplored parts of the relay network now available. Maybe its Yagh who now want to take control of the galaxy, boosted by some reaper tech, maybe after the war council collapses since all the council races had very serious casualties, and now the galaxy is in slight chaos with pirates, new rogue species, reaper cultists running around. So they establish a special cross-species policing initiative where they are given certain duties but can go around fulfilling them in widely different ways. Maybe they are rebuilding the citadel and your character is part of the new United Citadel Military? maybe some kind of special unit.

I can't shake the suspicion that the next enemy is going to be the Leviathans. I doubt BioWare is going to go for a smaller scale conflict and the only enemies that fit the big and epic bill is everyone's favorite Reaper inspiration, ocean dwellers.

I'd rather it be some fringe element from one of the other council races than some big bad like the leviathan (reaper lite).

Clearly the most powerful and advanced species is the billions of years old Leviathans and their ancient empire... just ask that Reaper dreadnaught how it feelt to get too close to Leviathan territory. It just toppled over dead.

The problem is, the Leviathans seem too powerful to be a good enemy...

I think they are, they could be dagerous politicians (very inteligent and impossible to lie to), can take out 10 men, are extremely evil, one of them played the entire galaxy as the SB.
it's a very good idea

i am think the next game is going to be a bit more small scale and less epic war, like a spy story or hunting down a terrorist cell.

I can see the Leviathans actually coming into play here, they have a dead reaper i'm sure they can improve their indoctrination ability and take on a shadow puppeteer role. maybe a plot like this.

you play as a new Spectre who finds out about the leviathans secretly indoctrinating people by way of them trying to do it to you, After the sudden but inevitable betrayal from the red shirt companion, you then go off to find out what the Leviathans are up to and how to stop them.

i would not say they are evil based on only one of them and a little bit of information we have but they are very dominating and i can see them fitting that idea really well.

Well considering that Leviathans are still alive, and probably not diminished in strength at all, and with no reapers to hunt them down they could try to reassert their control of at least some portion of the galaxy. however considering they use the same things as reapers and look almost the same, hmm I dont know.

ME4 villain should be Sheogorath.

In the final battle he makes all of your crew bat**** crazy and then you loose your mind and become Sheogorath's minion.

Good idea, if Sheogorath was actually evil.

He'd just be doing the fishstick. It's a very delicate state of mind.
