Snap Freeze + Energy Drain question

But it only works against Geth. It doesn't work against any of the other factions & the only way I can get Cryo Explosions is if another player activates them. If another play hits my frozen target with Energy Drain I get a Cryo Explosion but if I hit it with ED nothing happens. Did they actually program the game to be this retarded? My Paladin is only useful against Geth.
I just played Geth gold & it was awesome. I ran around & destroyed everything with Cryo Explosions. Then I played Reaper & Cerberus gold & had to hang back as support. I pretty much only had Snap Freeze. I couldn't do jack **** & got killed instantly as soon as I stuck my head out of cover. NOT FUN!
So I have to ask, WTF???

Also Energy Drain is much better detonator of shields/barriers than health and armor.

brought to you by cbs...the more u know...
also speccing the paladin without incinerate is your own downfall... unless you just play him vs geth

Edit: Energy Drain will only replenish the player's shields when it hits an enemy with barriers/shields or any synthetic enemy. Energy Drain will only prime and detonate combos when used against an organic with shields or barriers, or any synthetic.
Working as intended

l2 read descriptions. energy drain only detonates IF the target is a synthetic aka geth, and or has shields/barriers. any target with health/armor cannot be detonated with ED. (except turrets & atlases) ED is one of those finicky powers,,,

It doesn't do **** against Banshees & they have barriers. And sometimes I can detonate a Husk or Cannibal.
Well, whatever. I'll only use my Paladin against Geth. I love powers you can't rely on.

Any particular reason you refuse to spec into incinerate?N7 Banshee Bait wrote...

Incinerate is mandatory to make full use of this kit in unknown enemy games, it's better to skip passives or fitness instead.

6/6/6/4/4 is the perfect build for him. max powers, max health, only thing u miss out on is cryo/fireshield and nether are needed tbh.

Looking at the code for Energy Drain, the target is primed for a Tech Burst without it bothering to do any sort of checks, so it should be priming even an unshielded organic.
My advice is to take Incinerate as suggested. It makes this guy into a combo master.

You should probably understand the full power of the Fire Shield before dismissing it.DeadeyeCYclops78 wrote...
You are crippling the guy by skipping Incinerate, and that's just facts. even vs geth. When fighting geth you can snap freeze first, then incinerate for a cryo explosion and then follow it with ED for a incindiary explosion.... by just having SF&ED you are missing out on double tech explosion shennanigans with the paladin.... so l2build b4 you attempt to l2p... simplest explanation . lulz

N7 Paladin light melee is among the best melee attacks in the game, and Fire Shield makes it prime for a FE without the need to clutter up your GCD with primers.

You should prob understand that my gameplay differs from yours. I do fully understand it, and again it's not needed.

To be honest a lot of stuff on the N7 Paladin isn't "needed". I've run him with great effectiveness as 0/6/6/6/6 and 6/0/6/6/6 before so I'd say that Energy Drain or Incinerate aren't "needed" either.DeadeyeCYclops78 wrote...

All I'm saying is that Fire Shield shouldn't be so quickly dismissed, as it is extremely powerful.

If you wanna run him as a melee build that's fine, but i just don't see the point in it... tech explosions via powers or tech explosions via priming with the shield. I can use incinerate at range, I can't use fire shield at range to me that makes incinerate better... it's just matter of opinion and playstyle

This is me Paladin this is my recipe for an all round cryo explosion on all factions. Like other posts, Ed+Sf on shield and barriers...Incinerate+Sf on armour.... fire shield+Sf on enemies that get too close. Have fun.N7 Banshee Bait wrote...

You may not need fire shield for your play style, but you would do better if you learned to use it. 6/6/6/4/4 is definitely not "the perfect build for him"DeadeyeCYclops78 wrote...

Without fire shield you can't do things like this
Melee is incredible on the paladin as it also functions as an animation cancel. Since you should be meleeing anyway to animation cancel your powers, you're best off speccing into fire shield to improve the melee performance.

Cryo sheild bugged so go with Fire Sheild .
Every enemy can be hit with a Cryo explosion if you have ED and Incinerate so you need both to get the most out of the Paladin. One of the only kits that I have with a no passives build.

Incinerates cryo combo?
Or
Snap freezes tech combo?
Also what is the best way to spec these ranks? Better damage for choosing incinerates cryo damage or it's armour damage?

I keep trying different ways of doing it, but I just can't get Energy Drain to work for me. My most successful builds have been when I spec out of it completely.

You r probably referring to SF 6b which does nothing. SF4b reach gives you double damage CE primed by SF though.
Cryo evo of Incinerate is only bugged on health (defense), which is not a real problem, cause frozen + inci = quick death anyway
