I've played only a few games of ME3 since New Year after heading over to Warframe and yep I'm much worse than I used to be.

There are several things which are at the root of it.

The game doesn't work straightforwardly due to "balances" made to make it more challenging as we all got better.  When you play all the time you adapt automatically, ducking into cover as soon as you see that laser pulse bending round corners to hit you.  When it's safe to take on Hunters and Marauders, just how much longer the Pyros flame and Claw attacks are than they look, etc.  Omni-Button STICKY COVER ARRRRRGH

But mainly because my reflexes are now trying to hit other keys instead of the ones I should be.  Game last night I used 5 ops packs trying to run/slide because they're bound to the same mouse button

I'm a scrub what can I say  <_<

I am taking long breaks from this game these days, probably only averaged 1-2 hours a week at most the last 1,5 year. I feel a bit rusty every time I get back to playing this game but after about 2 matches it starts to feel like in the old days. Too bad I never really play more than 4 matches per week then ^^

Warframe has destroyed my aiming. :P

But the last few games I tried witha  friend well... the first few games went meh but about the third game I got back into the groove of things.

ME3 is a slow game so it's easy to grasp.

I'm not sure I've got worse but I've definitely got more reckless since I maxxed my manifest ... NovaGuard off-host and biotic charge into a newly spawned mob of Brutes, Banshees and Ravagers with the Cobra missile to hand? Hell yeah!

I put the game down and come back every couple months now. I see that I can still beat up on what appear to be noobs at the game and feel good about myself doing gold and platinum pugs then I go back to playing newer games

I think it's less scrubification and more the fact that the metagame's so much more of a titanic box of scrotums now. The issues with shield/health gating remain, as does the "lol, enemy spawn atop you" in objective waves, to say nothing of the insufferable Phantom Conga Line on any Cerberus map the second you get a hack wave. The game's tons harder than it used to be - so it's not just you.

I haven't played in months. I'm sure if I ever played again, I'd play like poop.

I have that same feeling, too. I am sitting around 1240 hours, but I definitely feel that I was a better player back in my 800s or 900s, especially when it comes to Platinum or even the tougher waves on Gold.
The difference is that back in the day I used to play with very competitive friends everyday. Now they moved on.
Recently I pug half of my games, the other half I play with pretty unskilled recently added 'friends'. I do a few Gold games everyday. But some end up being quite a few minutes longer than my 'Plat with friends' used to be.

WF is way easier since you don't even need RHA most of the time. Standing out in the open and shoot works for a groups of Grineers, but you'd be murdered by just 3 Marauders.

The worst thing about coming back to ME3 from WF for me is always the movement, since ME3 doesn't have any.

I've noticed that too, my guess as to why that happens is that no matter how bad the game goes I know I'll successfully extract. The intensity that once was there is now gone.

Back when we had 2 or 3 of each consumable rage-gelling and random missiles were no existent because you would keep them for the higher waves. You would actually have to work as a team because everyone's DPS was terrible. Now, regardless of how awful a team is or what a fuster cluck the team is in, I can just spam gel and missiles to win.

The only real way of not extracting is getting sync killed, and for those who can't avoid sync kills we have the juggy.

I've never been great, I would say decent, but since I decided to play this game again last week, I can say I'm not playing as well as I used to. Not only because of the period I didn't play, I think there are more hackers now then before, which is not very good for the morale.

Like many scrubs in this game, I worked my way up from Bronze to a good player on Platinum and spent nearly 1300 Hrs in this game. I have now noticed that my prowess in the battlefield has declined after reaching the "plateau" awhile back. I commit a lot of silly mistakes and die more often than I used to.

I thought a break from the game would help but I am still play like a scrub. I speculate that since I have maxed my manifest and played for so long that I have lost my motivation to do better. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?

It should be like riding a bike...

If it is possible to have a negative level of skill then yes, I have declined. Otherwise, I'm still the same player I've always been.

I felt like this had happened to me a while back.  Took a break and played some other games for a bit, and then got the ME3 bug and started up again.  Now I feel like I've had a bit of a breakthrough skill wise - I think working on Pres's duo challenges, committing to PUG platinum at least once a day and help from some amazingly skilled friends pushed me through to a new understanding and things just click a little better for me now.

Especially those duos... I've learned so much from working on them!

Skill decline? No.

Rusty? Sometimes.

These days I almost exclusively play Max's shpecta challenges and Prestacious's themed challenges and it's enough to keep the rust away.

After playing some U/U/P matches I believe I am getting back into gear so to speak. Except for the last game tonight where I was getting drowsy.
