Don't get me wrong, it's nice and all that.. It's nice to see something difference. Not too shabby looking at all. 

 

But I don't get the rationale behind the timing of this. As well as some other factors. 

 

I would have thought the forum would have been "purged"- just flush out all the old threads. Get the "toxic" out.

 

I also thought they would hold off on the forum update untill DA:I's release or some other major public event. I mean, if they are gonna get the toxic out, they'll inevitably toss a few people, and they'd need more so that this place wouldn't be dead. And they'd get more from the game release or another public event.

 

But those are merely my views on the matter. It was nothing new that they planned to update the forum, but this isn't what I had in mind for why and how.

Right now seems a very good time, get it all ready for when the next game comes out.

 

As for the toxic.... well if they wiped everything out to start fresh you would just have people complaining about having to start so many major, as well as popular,  threads over which just brings in more "toxic".

 

Plus.  Custom Avatars.... finally and thank you Bioware.

Personally, I'm happy they decided to keep the old threads active, in particular the ones that are like 100+ pages.

They did cut out the middle man with avatar imagery though. That is a godsend.

At least they kept the old threads preserved. Would have been a bummer if they just purged it all.

 

I would also find a darker scheme option to be nice.

I don't know it's kind of bright, I wish I could make darker like before, I also feel the old setup was a little easier to follow the dialogue especially where there is an edit in the post it sticks out more than the post itself

There really isn't any "timing" behind the update. Moderators have known about the development of this for years, it was stalled many times and now it's finished. No conspiracy to see here!

The white of the forums though is really bright. Gotta wear sunglasses to look at it.
