Let's not make this into a personal war. I can't see the harm in requesting the option. Besides, it's not uncommon knowledge that brightness damages the eyes.

I slightly more darker tone would be nice, it's too white right now and I find it extremely difficult to read the posts.

Oh, you know how it is. Sometimes, often, people are wrong on the internet. And we need to tell them. Sometimes this takes a few minutes. Hours. Days. Months?

This forum seems very similar to the Total War Center and other sites which have skin options.  I wouldn't be surprised if they add them in, and would definitely appreciate it if they did.  I do most of my browsing infront of a huge monitor, and reading the forums right now is basically the same as playing Hoth on SWTOR.  Which, well, you know.  Snow blindness.

And I hope this is made a top priority, for the sake of our vision and the fact that a few folks have already claimed they'll walk if this isn't made easier on the eyes sooner rather than later.

 

I'm seriously not happy with the white background. Every day I check the BSN in the morning, but my eyes are gonna get trashed if it looks like this.

The team is definitely aware of the request for more varied themes - I can't commit to anything for timelines, or if we'll do it, but it's definitely on the radar as a heavily requested item.

 

Good to hear, and I hope an option comes soon. In the meantime, I've found that zooming in a bit (CTRL-numpad+ in Firefox) helps a bit by reducing the text to whitespace ratio.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to stop the pain for me, I've had better results lowering my monitor brightness but that's terrible only for one website.

May I chime with a support for a darker background color. This blinding white is hurting my eyes (This is no joke. I'm here for half an hour and I already have a headache). Please, make other options available fast!

Nice 80s parody there.  I liked that and I agree with you as well.

 

Don't get me wrong; I'm loving the quick nav, the customizable avatar and the nicer reply options.  I just hate this amount of white space.  I'll throwing my post in here to show support for a darker tone.  The background pic change does help, but it doesn't help when actually reading posts.

Yeah, I turned down my brightness but its still jarring. That and now every other page I frequent suffers for it.

It does. I'm viewing this on my TV and it helps a lot to zoom in. Still, not ideal.
