Forum Dark Theme?

Best Answer Jessica Merizan , 31 March 2014 - 09:54 PM

The dark skin is live! You can toggle it in the bottom left hand corner in "Change Theme".

Just adding my voice to a request for a darker option for the main forum.

The background picture is fine (cool Inquisitor image!) but the whiteness of the "boards" and posts is pretty hard on my eyes.

(Also, the contrast between the white background and grey text makes things really hard to read.)

Yes, a darker option please.

I live in a place that's quite sunny and all, but knowing the amount of time I spend here, I think I'll end up having to go to spec savers. And that would be a problem because WE DON'T HAVE A SPEC SAVERS!11!!

The team is definitely aware of the request for more varied themes - I can't commit to anything for timelines, or if we'll do it, but it's definitely on the radar as a heavily requested item.

Thanks. Go web team!

Yes, an option to turn all the white into dark grey/black would be much appreciated. It could even be done like the Good Old Games forum, where with a simple click you can have grey background with white text or white background with black text, this way everyone can choose the setting they prefer without being forced with a palette swap they don't like. :)

I'd like to add my vote for a darker setting, too.

I was born in the dark, molded by it, I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing but blinding!

Add me in as support for an optional darker theme/colour scheme for the forum.

If this is a darker theme petition, then

signed.

I really hate the new text color/background.

After two years of using BSN as my primary online social venue, the new white theme is murder on the eyes. This has been the go to place for roleplaying and friendly late night discussion and I'd hate to have to find a place that is easier to stare at for more than a few minutes at a time.

I set up a little theme to BSNify these boards until an official fix comes along.

If you like what you see, here's a little guide for Google Chrome users.

1) Nab and install Change Colors, an add-on for Google Chrome.
2) Right-click the new icon in your address bar and select Options.
3) Input the following values in the colour boxes:
Background colour: 323232
Text colour: 9E9E94
Links colour: D09448
Visited links colour: D09448 (making these display differently make certain elements look screwy)
4) Return to the forums tab and left-click the same icon in your address bar as before, select Apply override on this domain

Unfortunately due to my "middle agedness" this bright back ground and skinny font is too bright so I will no longer be posing or reading the new "B" network. Tho I halfway suspect that part of why they did this change over was to get people to leave who wanted to spend lots of time here posting and enjoying the friendships they made over the years. Good job in alienating your fan base. BYE!

I definitely wouldn't mind. Grey or dark theme would cause less strain and also it would be more battery efficent on OLED screens.

Did you miss or ignore that part where they said they're bringing darker themes?

I too agree, its absolutely horrible on my eyes being blinded by a 24 inch white monitor. I really miss the old forum, it may have been.. outdated? but the performance and colour balance was perfect.

I'm not keen on white flashy websites (I have a youtube darkness app) and was wondering if there is a setting to make the website darker in tone?

Thanks.

OMG, yes please!

Pretty please???  The even just darker grey's in the text areas would help with eye strain.
