Forum Dark Theme?

Meilleure réponse Jessica Merizan , 31 mars 2014 - 09:54

The dark skin is live! You can toggle it in the bottom left hand corner in "Change Theme".

Maybe I could get used to black text on white background, but gray text on white background is bad and white on light gray even worse.

I'd really like a darker theme.

This forum looks as if it has been washed too often and all the colours faded.

I'm overall happy about the new forums, but yes, an option to reduce the brightness would be greatly appreciated ^_^

I set up a little theme to BSNify these boards until an official fix comes along.

If you like what you see, here's a little guide for Google Chrome users.

1) Nab and install Change Colors, an add-on for Google Chrome.
2) Right-click the new icon in your address bar and select Options.
3) Input the following values in the colour boxes:
Background colour: 323232
Text colour: 9E9E94
Links colour: D09448
Visited links colour: D09448 (making these display differently make certain elements look screwy)
4) Return to the forums tab and left-click the same icon in your address bar as before, select Apply override on this domain

Yeah, light grey letters on white background makes it kinda hard to read.

Besides that, i´m cool with the new forum.

What the good Captain said.

The look of the old BSN forums was much better.

Sweet! I still won't be able to visit the forums much anymore from work while Blindingly White is the only color scheme, but this looks perfect for my needs from home. Thanks!

I'd honestly prefer this... My eyes are hurting just looking at all this white and my monitor brightness and contrast settings are set to the bare minimum that they will go. I really would prefer something like the old Social forums instead as an option. The first thing I did when I transferred over was search for an option to do just that...

I'm sure most of us did. I certainly did.

Chiming in with everybody else.  I've squinted at the new site for about 30 minutes, off and on, and I've already got eyestrain.  An option for bigger fonts would be nice, as well.

Pretty sure this has been posted before, I was going to do that but somebody outran me.

You can install Stylish for Firefox https://addons.mozil.../addon/stylish/ to apply your own css stylesheets.
Somebody made these:

http://userstyles.or...e-bioware-forum

http://userstyles.or...ware-forum-dark

These are not fully usable as they are cause a lot of white fonts appear on white background still, but that's a start and you can do your own if you want.

Please fix it already. White backround is just uncomfortable to the eyes.

I wonder how on earth did something like this get "ok" from testers?  There should have atleast been an option to change the white to darker them.

Currently this forum is just unusuable for me. Really I having trouble reading the grey text on white backround.  So I rather not do it, which means i'm forced to not spend any time here.

Can someone from Bioware explain why they chose this white theme even when one can grasp in ten seconds how challenging it is to read.

I think the white background was chosen as it comes across as more "professional".

To me it comes across as making more business for the eye doctor, really.

A basic of web-design is not not have light text on a white background. It makes reading, which you tend to do a lot of on a forum, more troublesome over time.

Off-white with a black or dark brown text is far more readable.

I didn't like the old dark background and light text on the old forum but even that was better than this glaring mess.

Microsoft have done the same thing recently on the official Xbox forum. Makes you wonder if they and EA have been sharing notes on how to make things difficult to read for visitors to their forums.

Liking the new forum so far. A darker theme would be easier on the eyes.

It isn't the "theme" that is blindingly white, it is the center part of the forum that is. The theme only changes the background behind the forum that you can barely see.
