Probably not the place for this but I couldnt find anywhere that had a mere "general discussion" in general that wasnt ME related so Ill risk putting it here, and here's my idea, bad as it may be but I've thought a bit about it:

Basically, BioWare buys/invests in/whatever they have to do in order to get their hands on the "game making right" to the .//hack series and basicaly starts a .//hack series of their own only with their ME touch to it with the dialog choices and branching story etc.?

You would basically start a character and shape him/her similar to the way you would in ME...Picking "class" etc.  But only have a .//hack'ish story to it.  I know .//hack has been done to death is some people's opinions but I've always been a little upset that there hasnt been an Xbox 360/PS3 installment of the series yet and figured BioWare would be able to do the series more than just justice, but breathe new life into it as well?

Seriously though, I think BioWare could breath new life into this franchise if they could get their hands on it. It was good then and it could be even greater with BioWare's influence in it.

Uh huh.

Personally I would love BioWare to tackle a '40s film noir!

Unless you're being serious....(which doesnt seem like it.) Please refrain from the sarcasm.  That'd be great.

Wait, you're being serious? Bioware doing .hack? That is probably the worst idea ever. Or at least in the bottom million (which puts it in the bottom 0.0001% of the internet)

How is that sarcasm?

I would love to see a BioWare game based on a '40s noir film.  It would be a fantastic fit.... apart from the lack of fantasy or sci-fi.  But then every studios need to diversify once in a while.

It was just the "uh huh" part of it that came off a little sarcastic is all lol...Anyway, I could see that possibly. Have BioWare do something like Heavy Rain lol

Now I've played one of the .hack games. Now admittedly this was .hack// something part 2 so I have no one but myself to blame for the fact the story made absolutely no sense. While I wouldn't mind Bioware attacking the basic concept (which I found quite interesting) I wouldn't like them to try and bring over the entire series. The main reason being it's a complete waste of money to buy the rights to the .hack name when you can just rip off the concept (which can't be copyrighten as far as I know) with most of the fans being none the wiser. Second reason being if they were to bring over the whole series they would inevitably have to consider the fans of the .hack series which would probably require keeping true to the JRPG roots. Think of how peeved people are getting over how combat in ME2 is no longer skill based, as well as other traditional RPG elements that are being cut/changed/what have you; now imagine having people complaining that it not only lacks tradition RPG elements but also lacks traditional JRPG elements right along with people claiming it's too much like a JRPG.

Like I said I enjoyed the basic concept but don't think they should do a direct carry over of the .hack series.

While we are talking about things that will never happen. I want bioware to adapt the dark tower universe and give me a working lightsaber/collapsible shotgun with every purchase.

But really, that doesn't sound like something bioware would adapt....the only thing they seem to deal with that isnt their own IP is star wars.

Im not saying a direct carry over...Sorry if I made that part a little vague.  But I meant more along the line of what you kind of said.  Another story Arc all together.  Hell, since reboots are the current trend of things (I.E. the spiderman movies are getting a reboot because Raimey and Sony had "Creative Differences") they could even do a reboot and make it more like Roots than the beginning of the series.

P.S. The spiderman comment is true btw.  Raimey and Sony really did have creative differences and once he walked, McGuire, and everyone else did too so Sony's doing a Spiderman reboot with a completely different cast now.

I understand that...But it's still a "novel" idea none the less.  Not aimed at you per se but there was someone else before you who's "Worst idea ever" comment wasnt really appreciated...I know itll never happen.  It was just a "what if scenario"  I like what if scenarios :D

If Obsidian can make a modern-day spy game with rpg elements, I'm sure BioWare could do a '40 film noir.

This remains to be seen, unfortunately...

/glares at his Alpha Protocol pre-order receipt from July of '09

I'd be down for a BioWare treatment of a film noir however.  Not sure how it would wind up turning out, but I'd most likely buy it.
