If that's true you must be new to the internet.
...and society.
Also it's kinda funny, because one can interpret what you said to mean that it's ignorant to think a woman can sound authoritative without sounding manly.
Context and hyperbole.
Well it was either that or you were refering to him calling her voice butch. Which isn't so much ignorant as it is his own perception of how she sounded, so I don't think that context is much better.
Do you just disapprove of the word usage? Is "To me, her voice sounded on the deeper end of the female voice spectrum" better?

It's mostly a backlash against the fact that there's been almost no coverage of the female Shepard option. Everyone tries to tout Miss Hale's voice acting, often at the expense of Mark. They gave very different Shepards, so some people honestly prefer her.
In my case, I prefer Mark for Shepard but I think Miss Hale has better range over all.

Because she's the hardened commander of the game? She's not supposed to be a princess...
But really, WHO CARES... this topic has been done to death, I've seen this horse beaten to what can only be recognized as a red smear on the ground...

Then why is her voice more gruff than any other woman in the game?
LMAO
Is this supposed to be evidence to your point? Different women have different voices and speak with different inflections. A gruff woman is automatically trying to sound like a man? Yeah, that's ignorance.

My accusations were referring to his implications that Hale was trying to sound like a man. And he proved those implications were indeed what he meant in his followups.

To be fair, this topic is a symptom, not a cause.
It's asking why there is Mark Meer hate, which would make the threads with Mark Meer hate the source of the issue. As such, those are the threads that are causing the continued defilement of the corpse, maybe you should speak to them.

Ashley doesn't have a gruff voice, and she still sounds authoritive.

God only knows how awesome Hale will sound in ME2, since she's supposedly gotten better as well.

The stereotypical 'butch' lesbians you see in things like the Simpsons and Family Guy. They may not a be true representation of lesbians, but thats what I thought of when I heard femshep's voice.

A lesbian sounds as melodic as the wind, as deep as water, and has the accent of a baby's giggle. Obviously.

Basically, I just want these threads to stop popping up, people go on and on about the same things over and over. Meer was unemotional, Hale was butch sounding, Meer was wooden, Hale overacted, BAH...
Like I said in another one of the 500 VO threads earlier, I imagine both Hale and Meer would tell everyone to just stfu already.

Well...um...she sounds nothing like a butch lesbian. You are entitled to your opinion but...yeah I don't see that at all. Jennifer Hale is about as feminine a voice as you can find. Do women run around squeaking and giggling like little girls where you live or something?
Listen to Hale's work in KOTOR, maybe Brutal Legend if you have it. Theres a lot of difference.

To play Devil's Advocate, from the whole one(!) clip I've heard of her, her Shepard voice does sound shades deeper than her natural speaking voice and deeper is generally considered a masculine vocal trait, as guys' voices are deeper than girls'.
I wouldn't be surprised if she thought a military woman should have a deeper voice than her own, only she is qualified to speak of her intentions though. 'Trying to sound like a man' sounds like an exaggeration, but apparently that's a common thing to do. I've been trying to discourage it, personally.
It seems they're trying to say that the voice Hale chose to represent the character seemed artificial/forced and didn't conform to their expectations.
