How about we don't image spam
Yeah, that's why I have no real issue with the "Like" system as it is too.
I think people just wish they had more daily likes available. Though I could see scarcity being a good thing...
Do you *REALLY* like this post!? ![]()
The major practical problem with the limit is for people who visit the forums not-constantly and read many posts at one time.
Now, why does there need to be a limit at all? I can kinda understand it seeming annoying if a person likes every post they read, or if there is an aspect of a popularity contest where a person likes all posts of their friends or whatever. However, to me it seems that scarcity of likes is counterproductive for the two great uses for the feature: avoiding posts with no other content but for liking a previous post, and emphasizing particularly great posts. (If the limit is there for controlling actual flooding - server issues or such - surely that can be limited in a more sensible fashion than 24h counter?)
Someone liking trivial posts matters way less when there are 'likes' accumulating to great posts from many sources... and the limit seems like a silly or even bad reason for those likes not accumulating. And anything that encourages people to avoid simple "this!" posts is wonderful in my opinion. (Because I favor conversation over chatter.) Now there are people making posts to say "I really would have liked this but I've used up my daily limit"! I've been seriously tempted to post a few of those myself.
I enjoy the system used in Baldur's Gate EE forums where a post can be voted with "Insightful", "Agree" or "Like". Looking at those little icons at the bottom of the post gives an idea on the usefulness of the post, even in some detail. But even if it's just "likes", such a feature should encourage and support the desired way(s) of using the forums.
Sorry, most post was intended to be more silly than it came across. I agree that the limit could stand to be upped/removed.
