What does that have to do with being able to give more Likes than other members?
You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day

I have no problem with 10 likes per day; if something is worthy/deserving I'll return the next day to like it. ![]()

I had the same train of thought earlier, but then realized that sometimes, awesome things will get lost in the shuffle and never get liked, which kinda sucks.

Nah. I'd see it as being a Bioware-controlled thing. You know how moderators are selected due to their past behavior, contributions, etc etc? Same thing, except Good Members wouldn't have any access to the functionality that Moderators do. You know, instead of the term "Good", replace that with "Helpful". That seems like a better representation of the intent.
Hmmmm. I don't know... then it just becomes a popularity contest not amongst the BSNer's, but amongst the mods/devs?

Multi quoting is fun and oh so easy. No more 5 windows cutting and pasting.

Then it happens.

It would still be there for the BSNer's. Not a doubt in my mind they would leverage their friends to help then sway the mods/devs opinions.
Many help because they can be helpful and they are not looking for accolades and will continue to be helpful regardless of anything special.

I just made a thread about it so I don't distract from this thread too much.

Um yes anyway... more than 10 would be awesome. I've just reached my limit as well... sadness.
I quite like this new feature. And then you get a wee notification when someone's "liked" a post. Happy times. ![]()

Yeah, feels good when I get the pop up that someone liked something I posted. Makes me feel good thinking someone else will feel good when I like their post. Being unable to do it sucks.

I guess its an amount you use every 24 hours.

I cannot see the reason behind the limit put on the likes one can give on daily basis. It's very weird for me to start counting them in case I REALLY want to give one but cannot as I reached my 10 time quota for the day
.
There should be one behind this because otherwise why have it in the first place.....If there is one would like to hear/read it.

I had to message someone because I wanted to let them know that I was going to like their post, and couldn't. Reason being, they successfully liked my response to their post.

I would have imagined that the point of a 'like a post' feature would be avoiding unnecessary "this" and "me too" type of posts (since liking can be used as a shorthand for showing support without having anything important to add) and giving small emphasis to posts that one or more readers have found interesting, useful, funny or smart. Neither of these in any way benefits from a daily limit for giving likes.
So... is there some other point to liking that I'm not getting? Or some problem that the limit is addressing?

Yeah, that's why I have no real issue with the "Like" system as it is too.
I think people just wish they had more daily likes available. Though I could see scarcity being a good thing...

The major practical problem with the limit is for people who visit the forums not-constantly and read many posts at one time.
Now, why does there need to be a limit at all? I can kinda understand it seeming annoying if a person likes every post they read, or if there is an aspect of a popularity contest where a person likes all posts of their friends or whatever. However, to me it seems that scarcity of likes is counterproductive for the two great uses for the feature: avoiding posts with no other content but for liking a previous post, and emphasizing particularly great posts. (If the limit is there for controlling actual flooding - server issues or such - surely that can be limited in a more sensible fashion than 24h counter?)
Someone liking trivial posts matters way less when there are 'likes' accumulating to great posts from many sources... and the limit seems like a silly or even bad reason for those likes not accumulating. And anything that encourages people to avoid simple "this!" posts is wonderful in my opinion. (Because I favor conversation over chatter.) Now there are people making posts to say "I really would have liked this but I've used up my daily limit"! I've been seriously tempted to post a few of those myself.
I enjoy the system used in Baldur's Gate EE forums where a post can be voted with "Insightful", "Agree" or "Like". Looking at those little icons at the bottom of the post gives an idea on the usefulness of the post, even in some detail. But even if it's just "likes", such a feature should encourage and support the desired way(s) of using the forums.

I use likes on posts as a way to express my appreciation for it, whether its well thought out, funny as hell, has solid logic, shares information I didn't have prior, etc etc.
At least, I would if I could. But if I'm only going to be able to do that a few times, that kinda sucks.

Sorry, most post was intended to be more silly than it came across. I agree that the limit could stand to be upped/removed.
