Been playing Destiny for quite a bit and the gameplay itself is awesome. It's fun to co-op with people and the menus are cool and intuitive.

The story is absolutely terrible though. Good lord I've never seen worse writing in my life.

I honestly couldn't tell you what the story is. From what I recall about the story though, it's basically Halo except the names of everything have been changed and they added the big moon entity thing. I don't really care though. I'm just interested in finding clothes.

All I know is that there's a wizard that came from the moon. Also there are sexy blue ladies and biotics dark energy. Or something. Telling a coherent story was never Bungie's strong suit.

 

@Meg - Ditto, I loved customizing my character's look.

It wasn't, but Halo's plot was at least decent enough. You could follow along the story and characters and things were explained nicely and made sense.

Destiny just feels like they're telling me stuff that I have no reason to care about yet because they don't explain a damn thing. That and theres a lot of made up jargon that makes no damn sense at all. Makes me wonder if the writers graduated from elementary school just recently.

It would probably be okay if they had the Grimoire entries in-game, but they're only on the website to read and they're a pain to sift through.

This. So much this. The fact that there's literally no codex or journal in game is beyond ridiculous in this day and age. It's seems lazy on the one hand and on the other hand it seems like a scheme to get people to download the Destiny app just so they can learn what anything means.

@Odin: Dude. Just wait until you can actually get the special clothes. I finallyyy got a hood and cape for my Hunter and I've seriously never felt so pretty and badass simultaneously.

I got mine at level 10, I think? Or maybe it was 11. I don't remember.

And good god, the bosses in the Mars level 8 missions and above stress me the f*ck out. Somehow I managed to beat them without dying, but I'm really hating the whole "throw swarms of enemies at you that won't stop until you kill the 10 story bullet sponge that's shooting lightning bombs at your face" strategy that they use every godd*mn time.

Destiny getting a few 6/10 reviews, all of which, after reading, I agree with, even though I've been enjoying the game for the most part.

Don't get me wrong. I'm having a lot of fun with it. I think about it all day at work and then go home and immediately play for hours and have a blast with it. It has it's flaws and shortcomings, but I think I would still recommend it. Honestly, the beta was a perfect indication of what the game is like as a whole so if you really enjoyed that then I think you'll have a lot of fun with the game.

Yeah I think you'll be good with buying it, just a heads up though that myself, Kab and Flashy all have it for XB1, if that makes any difference co-op wise, because you can only get matched with other people in Strikes. Otherwise you gotta manually invite.

Like Meg said it's incredibly enjoyable, but it's not without its glaring annoyances and flaws. You come back for the shooting and the co-op, even if you may cry at how horrible the story and writing is. Or the bullet sponge bosses

So...you're saying I'm gonna be co-oping this stuff with Meg and possibly Andy? I can think of worse ways to kill an hour or so. Like playing it solo, lol.

Like I said wasn't sure if it made a difference, considering Meg and Andy's tight schedules IIRC. You'd have to get an Xbox One to begin with lol.

What I mean is that you'd want to make sure you can co-op Destiny often. The missions with really tough enemies and bosses can be very unforgiving solo.

Buy it if you know you have two other friends to co-op with consistently on PS4. You can also get Destiny for Xbox 360 and you can upgrade to the XB1 version for free later. Not sure if that promo is digital only or not.

If you don't have anyone on either PS4 or X360 to co-op with consistently, often, etc then it may not be fun.

On the other hand, doesn't Borderlands come out next month? If it's a choice between the two, then I'd obviously go with that bc Destiny, while fun, isn't half the game Borderlands is.

Haha Meg, Flashy and Kab got it a couple weeks ago witb the Madden bundle at $400. Last week you could have got any XB1 bundle and got a free game of your choice.

And yeah, Destiny is basically Borderlands without any of the good story or humor.

Had a lot of trade in and only paid 200 for it... and I want Ori and the Blind forest something fierce.  But I don't see myself getting too many games for it outside of co-op based.  Can't wait for Little Big Planet on the PS4.
