Also, Dark Souls 2 more cheaty-faced in some areas, (Lookin' at you, Shrine of Amana) whereas Dark Souls was more of a tough-but-fair deal. Not saying it's bad, I love the game to death, but I can't help but feel like they felt pressured to make it harder than the first one, but forgot what "challenge" means.

I dunno, maybe the mages have me a little butthurt still...

Fixed :P

Mages in general in either Dark Souls are overpowered bastards.

Yeah...I played a full spellcaster, raising mainly Intelligence and Faith...use of Sorceries, Miracles, Pyromancies AND Hexes make for a hellaciously good time. I remember co-oping, helping people take out a boss later on in the game and getting in and out within 45 seconds tops thanks to my overpowered ubermage.

Taking out other mage players as a dex build Darkmoon Blade is really fun though :D

Provided they don't destroy you in their initial attack/stunlock you, I'd imagine it'd be a blast, but seeing as I personally have gone 3v1 with me being the 1 and came out on top, I'd say it's a rarity. Either that or I'm good, or my competition wasn't as tough as they seemed at the time. Full plate mail and great clubs will do that.

I imagine it all depends. I've found every single person is different in some way, in how they're built or how experienced they are, no fight is the same between different people. At this point, when we've had so much experience, most battles are determined simply by who fights better. You may often get people who are lower leveled and people who don't have good gear, who are defeated easily, but many more fights are close.

I've defeated gankers (2v1), players who had formidable gear or skills, etc. Hackers though I haven't killed yet lol. Gotta work on my use of gravity.

I am not enjoying Dark Souls 2 at all... atmosphere is lacking compared to the previous games, the mechanics don't feel that tight, enemy placement is ridiculous to the point it feels more lucky to beat them than skill, and it's just doesn't have that spark that kept me playing the first one.

I'll agree with you on the atmosphere and enemy placement, but once you get used to the gameplay changes, I feel that it's overall much smoother than the first one.

I like being able to walk and use lifestones and using the stick to jump instead of release quick tap B.  Part of the issue I'm having though is there are no good drops for a DEX build so far... add that with the hordes of enemies and battles take far too long simply going forward, hit, retreat to thin the herd.  And there are a lot of knight bosses so far... three of the first four I met were some variant of Knight basically.

Maybe this cave area will have something to it.

And I'm about to return this game... I've been unimpressed with it so far and the Bellbros has taken the game to absolutely "what in the **** where these fools thinking?".  Course, didn't make it better after finally managing to get to the fog door only to realise a slashing weapon is useless (Yay, let's **** DEX builds more!) and you can be absolutely swarmed.  Terrible terrible design in that level.

You gotta adapt as a DEX build. If slash weapons are useless on something, you should have a spear to back you up. In fact, Spears are much more useful all around for a DEX build than slash weapons. Just look up tips on where you're stuck and keep grinding.

Also, it's important to note that the Belfry Gargoyles are OPTIONAL! I pretty much skipped them entirely because that fight is so cheap. I mean, you practically need to summon someone to do it, and the area that you can summon people in is a game-designated PVP area, so people are actively attempting to invade you.

However, not defeating the Gargoyles can make a future boss a lot tougher, so there's that.

Dropped my DEX build... it's not balanced properly.  Rolling intelligence, faith with some strength mixed in now... only reason I died so far is not paying attention and falling off a cliff... even owned the invaders at the bell tower and dealt with 4 gargoyles by myself o.0

Faith/Int is amazing! I'd only get enough STR to use a buckler without a penalty. Get the hexer's robes from the creepy dude at the entrance to the Huntsman's Copse once you get 30 INT and Faith. You'll be using it for the whole game, most likely. I know I did.

Pretty much. It's amazing. I think I've died a total of like, 10 times and I'm pretty much at the end of the game on that character.

Anyone else playing the Destiny beta? I'm about to start it and I'm so stoked. And not just for the character creator, although that is a big reason.

I will be next week on Xbox One. Regardless, I'm also very excited. Let us know how it is Meg! I'd be interested to see if they fixed Dinklage's lines, or how Bungie's take on loot based FPS is.

I'll be sure to let you guys know what I think, but seeing as it's been installing for an hour and it's only 3.65/10.97 gb done, I'm gonna sleep and try it tomorrow. :(

I didn't preorder it, so no beta for me...Though I am really stoked for the game. I can't wait to be a badass gun-mage.

I just realized that I have two extra Destiny Beta codes for anyone who wants them. I'm pretty sure they'll only work for PS4 in America though bc of how I set mine up. Here are the codes for anyone who might want one. Just redeem it on the Playstation store and you should be good.

On a sidenote, I've been playing Destiny since 7:30 this morning and it's pretty awesome. It has a big MMO feel to it, but it hasn't been too grindy, at least not so far. And there's enough story behind the missions to keep it interesting. They also added some effects to Dinklage's (Ghost) voice so he sound a lot better and more like a robot companion. And this is coming from someone who, despite loving the dude, couldn't help but cringe at his voice acting in the videos at E3. The combat plays a lot like Halo, but with enough differences that it doesn't feel boring. Like I said, I've been playing it for 8 hours now and still love it so they must be doing something right.

So far, I really like the game, it really does remind me of a mix of Halo and Borderlands, as far as gameplay is concerned. I'm interested in what the full game will give us...might have to buy this one.
