I liked the trailer. Not sure how I feel about ME4 in general. I'm definitely up for a new game in that universe, but lately developers just seem to screw things up. We'll see. I'm up to try whatever they wanna throw at us.

I'm ambivalent. I could potentially love it, so long as the following are true:

1. It doesn't **** up my canon. The reapers are destroyed and Shepard lives a long and happy life with Kaidan.
2. It's set in the same universe as the first three games.
3. I feel a connection with the new characters.

It seems likely that condition #2 will be satisfied, but that's the only thing that was touched on, so there isn't much for me to get excited about yet.

If they weren't going to try and ignore the ME3 endings they wouldn't put the next game in Andromeda galaxy.  If they were going to touch the subject in any meaningful way they'd of stayed in the Milky Way.

I'm sure I'll make a connection to the new characters, but as deep as I did with my crew?  I don't know...  that's a high bar.  I like DA:O, DA:2, and DA:I but I really don't have a connection to any of the characters as I did with Shepard, Kaidan, Joker, Chakwas, EDI, Garrus, Tali, and others.  In one game James & Steve really became endeared to me so it's possible.

Even in the Andromeda galaxy, they can't ignore the ending of Mass Effect 3. Are humans synthesized or not? Are the reapers destroyed or are they policing the Milky Way? These are the kinds of things that would follow humanity as they explore new galaxies.

I'm sure some sort of ignoring/magic/etc is going on, but we'll just have to wait to find out. I can love another crew. I wish it was the old group, sure, but I'm looking forward to starting over. Just have to see how much of their treatment of Shepard I have to ignore.

Side note, I love the name Andromeda. I hope it sticks.

I could be wrong, but as soon as I seen the trailer and read BW's announcement blog I thought;  Arc ship is sent from Alliance space during the events of ME3 but BEFORE the end. My guess is sometime between Tuchanka and Rannoch. By the time Shepard meets Star Brat, the ship is outside the Milky Way and beyond the effects of the Crucible. They know that Shepard got the Crucible to fire but they will not expand beyond what the EC gave us.

Hi guys, guess the MEA trailer woke me up :P

Well, while I am excited about the new game, I must admit I am a bit baffled at what I was seeing, is that a human wearing N7 badge? Feels a little odd to picture N7 presence in another galaxy

Interesting! That could work. That would satisfy my first and second conditions.

I know what you mean. It was strange to see a soldier in N7 gear that far into the future.

Ok, ok, my first thought was really, "They are trying to avoid the RBG *soooo* much they're packing up a shipping off to another galaxy..."  but then I got to thinking, "How'll they explain it?" and came up with the arc idea.

I'm guessing they use sleeper ships to cross intergalactic space to Andromeda, so to them it's not been as many years since they were asleep xxx-hundreds of years.

Or... instead of ships, they travelled IN a reaper through blackholes...

The blog post said something to the effect that the next game is set "Long after and far away" the events in ME3.  Makes me think it took time to get there, plus the time (I'm guessing multi-hundreds or a thousand-ish years) puts even more distance between the RBG and this new game too. Not only did they galaxy hop over to Andromeda, they are going to use in-game time too distance themselves from the RBG.

In my case, I have my own "happy ending" where Shepard lives and reunites with Kaidan.  Others keep to the IT as the real ending, others liked control or synthesis.  Plus the variations of what happens post war all lead to too many variations to count.

If they do a "ME Keep" type thing, they may have some subtle in-game variations and dialogs about the RBG. I'm fine with that, if they touched the post ME3 world too much they'd tread on a portion of the fanbase's "ending".

It certainly is difficult for them as they want people to be reminded of Mass Effect's legacy but not the ending fiasco

It's a couple days late, but since many of us are LGBT+ I thought I should say congratulations to the U.S.A. for becoming the 21st country to recognize same-sex marriage!

A lot of assholes on twitter are like "Screw this, I'm moving to Canada!" Which is hilarious, since Canada has recognized same-sex marriages for ten years now.  :P

It's exciting. I never really thought it'd actually happen.

Agreed, I too never thought it'd happen in my lifetime.   Too bad I don't have anyone to share it with... yet?

Of course, "yet".

Don't worry, Ku. I don't have anyone to celebrate with yet, either. It's still pretty amazing, though.  :D

I almost feel embarrassed for the 13 states that didn't legalize equality before the SCOTUS ruling *coughgeorgiacough*.  :P

Lol, some people need a kick in the pants to get it right :P

It's kind of nice, actually, that only 13 states needed that kick in the pants. Mindblowing, really. I wonder how close some of them would have been to legalizing it on their own. I'm guessing states like Texas and Mississippi would have taken forever.

Thanks Marcos, I know I'm not the only one but times like that day compound things.

Some states are still fighting.

True, just 'cause it's legal now doesn't mean states are paying attention. It's a good start though. Gives a leg to stand on.

Yeah, it's like the ending of segregation, the South is going to fight it just like they did that.  There will always be some who are against it 'cuz Jeebus though.

We don't like being told what to do, even when we're wrong. Maybe especially when we're wrong. Sometimes I think we're the rebellious teenagers of the US.

We'll come around.

The rebellious teens are the ones I'm counting on. They're growing up in the digital era. Hopefully that means they're less likely to think like their parents then their parents were.
