Yeah, I don't think it exists yet. What I'm after is a BioWare employee to throw a date out that we can call official. If I do it, it's headcanon and I celebrate it alone, but if BioWare does it, it's canon and we all celebrate it together.

New blog entry says that Cathleen Rootsaert (Writer, Mass Effect) is going to be at PAX East 2014!
It's a chance to ask her personally at the panel. Even if she does not know, she might hint at least whether such info exists somewhere in their lore and scripts or not.

D: I live in the West Coast. I can't afford to fly out to PAX East.
But it's a great idea! I need to get myself to a convention that has BioWare people.

Lol, I live on the east coast, but I couldn't afford it either.
It is a good idea though. Anybody know anybody going to PAX East?

I'm sorry for posting this here, but I needed to ask that without being torn apart into shreds by less friendly fancrowd and mods.
I've got a copy of the recent DA book by Patrick Weekes. It has this as an intro:
This book is dedicated to the LGBTQ fans who have talked to all of us at BioWare via panel questions, direct messages, Tumblr fan art, excited YouTube videos, and everything else. Thank you for your kind words and your heartwarming—sometimes heartbreaking—stories. Thank you for appreciating what we have done and challenging us to do more. But mostly, thank you for reaching out and making your voices heard.
I'm not sure what exactly I want to hear... But do you think it's ok to dedicate a book to the part of community? I mean - other fans obviously make art, cosplays, many have stories of their own, probably no less heartbreaking.
I had always considered myself a tolerant person, many of you should know me as such. but here...I was frustrated, really. It's like I'm not even supposed to read this book. Why not to thank all the fans equally? Because that's what 'inclusiveness' is about for me.

Ugh, don't worry about it, Nrieh. It is like the second page of every book, "dedicated to ... with love." It is likely a way to please people who are not content with their work being attached to some large project and get sidelined
Though I do agree that this kind of exclusivity tends to alienate people and somewhat counter-productive to social (forum) cohesion
...and you can read this book if you want to, though I doubt many straight folks (or should I say people who aren't LGBTQ) would be interested

Don't get me wrong, I did not expect Weekes or Gaider to thank me personally.
I also understand that it's normal to thank one's friends or relatives (like he thanks his wife, which had supported him), everyone does that. But that passage shows gratitude to the part of community I don't belong to, and it sounds like this book was meant for them only. Or may be it's just me and I'm overreacting.

Have you read it?
I'm fine with s\s characters - I loved Zevran and Leliana, I never had issues with bisexual Anders.
I'm aware that there are some s\s plots, but you make it sound like it's a very special LGBT-only novel. Is it that bad*?
---
Clarifying just in case - *by 'bad' I mean that it must have something valuable other than personal life of Celene, right?

^^^ Hehehe, no, I have not read the book nor am I interested, but if the s/s romance doesn't bother you, then read it if it interests you

I don't see the dedication of the book to be an issue at all. Like you said, the dedication of a book will almost always alienate someone. I feel it's the same as when an author picks out a specific fan, by name, to dedicate the book to. Does that mean the book is only for that person? What if they dedicated to the fans in some city in Canada? Try not to worry about it, Nrieh. It really is no different.

It's not s\s romance per se, that bothers me. It's that attitude.
Can you imagine a book that explicitly shows author's gratitude to the straight players\readers only? Male? Female?
How is this one any different or better? Pretty much obvious to me, but I thought that I might miss something.
I was going to make a thread in DAI section, but I just know that it won't live past first posts. Mods will close it asap as a 'dangerous' one. And I'd end up either banned or branded as 'a f*ing homophobe' (or both).

I don't think it's same. He is not talking about his best friend or about his hometown. He talks about LGBT fans, their art and stories, their dedication and such. Obviously, there are many straight players that are obsessed by DA universe as much (or even more). They are going to buy this book. I don't see it as a token of those 'equality' and 'inclusiveness' things that they like to talk about. I don't know whether he made any LGBT fans happy by that intro, but I see how he had created and extra border-line.

Lmao, you're probably right there!
And I do doubt many LGBTQ care. I'd rather not be called out, but that's just me. I just think think, in general, there's no point in reading into the dedication. I just think an author should be able to thank whoever he's thankful to.

I'm with Ash, don't read too much into it Nrieh, the intro is for the author not the readers. Something the LGBTQ inspired him to/while work on this book.
