My copy of ToS Chronicles arrived today, been 6 years since I last played this game on the GC, and oh my, the wave of nostalgia that has enveloped me has been incredible, I forgot how much I loved this JRPG, it really is one of my all time favourite games

It was the first one I played with my gaming buddies. ToS was so much fun. I guess you'd say it's worth getting?

What'd you think of Vesperia? That's my favorite. Yuri is the best hero. He knows how to get things done. Battles were fun too. I think they improve the battle system with every game.

I really loved Vesperia, then was a bit annoyed when it get that enhanced version for PS3, which was no localised because M$ did an exclusivity deal so have always been miffed at that. Symphonia is still my all time favourite though

if i had to give them rankings based on the one's i've played it would be

1) Tales of Symphonia

2) Tales of the Abyss

3) Tales of Xillia

4) Tales of Vesperia

5) Tales of Graces F

6) Tales of Symphonia : Dawn of the New World

7) Tales of Eternia

8) Tales of the World : Radiant Mythology

Man, that's right around when FFX comes back. I'll have to snag it after that 'cause I'm gonna be enjoying FFX for a long while. I haven't finished Dark Souls yet though either, lol.

The only game I remember having a worldwide release was Pokemon X/Y. It was awesome. More games should do that. Pokemon was special though. You got to battle anyone and trade with anyone at anytime so a worldwide release just made sense.

I wish I had a 3DS or even a 2DS for X/Y, I really want to play them as I've always loved the Pokemon rpgs. So far the ones on the DS are all I can get =/

I loved Vesperia, it's the only Tales game I've ever had the chance to play, I really want to play the other Tales games as Vesperia is one of my favourite JRPGs. I must get a PS3 and a 3DS =')

@Funkcase, you will not be disappointed with Symphonia Chronicles, Graces F and Xillia :D, if you can get a PS3 cheap they will be well worth it, and Xillia 2 will be out at some point and Tales of Zestiria is currently being made for PS3 as well.

I've heard amazing things about all of them - I've seen some footage of Xillia, I'm almost desperate to play them - and Ni No Kuni (if only for the fact I'm a huge Studio Ghibli fan)

Only downside I ever had with NNK is how it handled voiced scene's, It would start fully voiced and then 1/2 way through a conversation it wouldn't be voiced, was a bit jarring at times, though didn't really affect my enjoyment, was just an unusual style

Xillia was really good. The battle system was great, and the arts are a lot of fun. They did a good job. The characters are pretty cool.

Man, Vesperia is my all time favorite. I just really love Yuri. He's just awesome. I love how he just doesn't take anything from the bad guys. He just goes and takes care of them!

Naesaki!

You liked Abyss? What did you play it on? Ours totally wigged out on us and we couldn't even play it. I was thinking of giving it another chance on the DS.

Lol Doodle.

I couldn't remember where Mordio came from, but I know Repede.

I originally imported an american PS2 like 3 years before the 3DS version would come into life, and played Abyss that way, then I bought the 3DS version to support the series.

But yeah I really loved Abyss' storyline, I mean Luke grated on me early game but I think that was the intention xD but Jade Curtiss <3 best character ever! I also really liked Natalia, but I like royal who do something archetypes

And i'm glad to see more people appreciate Xillia, alot of people especially on the gamefaqs board constantly rip into it because it didn't have some "tales series" staples, like cameo fights and such

I can't wait for Xillia 2 later this year and I really can't wait for Zestiria :D

What? Who could rip on Xillia? It has such an awesome accessory system. It was hilarious. The arte system took a bit to get used to, but it made the battles a lot of fun.

Although I really love Vesperia - it bugs me that Raven is considered "old man", he looks only slightly older than Yuri :')

I think its just a japanese culture thing, like if a character in an RPG is over the age of 25 and the rest of the cast is 21 or younger, that character is the old man/lady

Lmao! That bugged me too. He looks younger than me!

I loved Raven so much. It was so fun being the healer for the party. Running around shooting a storm of arrows and playing healer. I wish more games would do that.

So I played TESO the whole WE & I must admit I was pretty pleased with the game & I will buy it!

The game is clearly aiming to gamers & that's something I like, no ultra fast xp à la FFXIVARR where you don't even bother to try to buing/farming equipement before you reach lv50, thank you very much FATE. I was really pleased that the XP is slower so I can appriciate leveling, skill up & looting stuff, & tha you know stuff you got gonna last a little, not having to change it 1 hour later.

The landscapes are great, very huge zones, really close to FFXIV v1, bigger than TSW or FFXIVARR, but with the same diversity for the landcapes. I played mostly in north regions (you can choose 3 differents at start, depenting on your race).

tumblr_n1r4jpI2QD1s4h7epo8_1280.jpg

(this is the main charater I used for beta, in north region, a sorcerer from Nord)

There is a lot of quests & sub quests & the amazing thing is that they are all very different, not at all boring (unlike FFXIV trash quests, because ya, quests not in the main scenario are trash, always doing the same thing, even some of the main history are ;o;)

The downside is that in TESO, like in Skyrim, there's no cutscene, not even one with game engin & in that subject, FFXIV does a great job.

The music are also really nice & the gameplay really close to Skyrim, I found it was easier to aim in TESO though, but they need to work the HUD imo, because it's really too basic & lack informations (buff, debuff, search engin, show players names on top of the character, a way to know their "job" ...)

I also like the skill up, like in skyrim, the more you use a skill, a weapon, (etc) the more it become powerfull & can be updraged with skill points you earn (earned at level up, some main quest reward or buy collecting 3 shardes so far) & the fact that all "jobs" have 3 possibile path (for exemple, sorcerer: summon, dark magic & lightning magic), so, in the game, all sorcerers are not gonna have the same speciality & spells. Theres's also active & passive skills you can learn from the weapon you use, armor your wear (3 types, light, medium & heavy, each with specifics skills), from the environments, from guilds (etc). I also liked the fact that the world is not just a landscape & that there's hidden items  like Shards or treasure coffer.

Overall it was really good to play the game, really mature univers, all quests & sub quests with a scenario, not just go there & get this or kill this.

Also, character creation is really good & that was really pleasing to have so much criteria to choose (but seriously, the haircuts are horrible :x)

eso2014-03-0119-57-44-74.jpg

(This is the second character i created, from western region, Altmer, most likely the race Ill chose since I like sorcerer a lot in this game & yeah i know, he looks like the first one, did that on purpose to see the diffreence between the 2 races & it's in the eyes, seems way more cleaver than the nord one XD)

That's all! I promised i'll told you about the beta after I tried it & so I did ^^

If you have some question I will try to answer!

Do you know if female hair choices are any good? Any good basic guy haircuts, you know, just short and scruffy? What about armor choices? Do guys have a bare chest option? Are females really boobly? I hate that. What about voices from the character?

Are there any beast races?

Oh, also, how are the emoting options? Will there be an RP community, you think?

Haircuts for femal seemed a little better from what I've seen in the game, I didn't myself tried, I'll if there is another beta planned. Beast race beep answered + orc (not sure if we put that with beasts XD)

I really thing the game have the settings for RP, but t's not something i'm looking for, if you're interested you might want to check in forums :o

I wouldn't consider them to be beasts. They're light green skinned and big jawed humans.

Of course, but I'm pretty sure Ash meant beasts as in animals other than human/elf/etc.

Wow, that was fast. You were really Gung ho about that one ;D I love playing through old favorites too.

Yeah, I meant like animals, tails and horns, and stuff. Humans, elves, etc, get boring to keep making up characters sometimes. It's fun to play something totally wild for a change.

Clocked about 50 hours on the 1st run, didn't rush through any cutscenes, did a large number of the sidequests, didn't do niflheim or the devil arms sidequests, will leave them till a 2nd playthrough
