I'll check it out. I've started playing Sword of the Stars again.

My 'need to play this' list is huge as it is, but I've got this yesterday:
Steam had it on sale, and I bought it for the style and music alone. It was really refreshing to see a good 'hand-painted' animation instead of 'realistic' 3D. Even if I don't like the game itself, the music is very nice, and I've payed extra 1$ to get a version with the OST.

Okay, I haven't played much at all; I've only got past the first boss (Been a busy two days).
First off, I would like to say that I shall refrain any spoilers, and that my overall opinion of the game has been very high thus far.
The first obvious change is that the story is actually more obvious; the game opens with a cutscene followed by some brief gameplay (but cool gameplay that I wont spoil) then another cutscene that opens up the character creation. I assume this is to make the story easy to understand for new players, as lore from item description appears to return too.
Character creation is still rather limited, although it's a huge improvement over Dark souls 1 - I actually like how my character has turned out. She actually looks attractive (when not hollow). She has aubum hair, a purple tattoo on her face, and a tanned, soft complexion.
You might have noticed that I said tattoos; they're rather limited and can only be placed on the face. Although you can change the size, shape, colour and position. My characters tattoo resembles a Dalish elf tattoo from Dragon age.
In Dark souls, I played as a pyromancer with dexterity based weapons - a rather powerful combination with high endurance and health too. In Dark souls 2 I've decided to play as a faith character with strength based weapons. Pyromances now scale with faith and intelligence, you need to be a caster to use pyromancy now. This change is probably for the best due to how easy pyromancy made the start of Dark souls 1. I plan on teaching my faith based character pyromancy for offensive spells, whilst using faith for defensive spells and devine weapons.
There are stages of hollow now, with each stage your maximum health decreases, I'm not certain how far down it goes though. You can only restore humanity using an item called human effigy; they appear to be more rare than humanity was in Dark souls.
Voice chat is now an option for co-op (I'm not sure for PVP), you are prompted at the start if you would like it on or set to 'restricted' for the traditional Dark souls experience.
Graphics-wise, the game looks good, although it certainly does not look next-gen. It's nice but wont be named the best looking game of the year, or even last year. I didn't notice any frame-rate issues, the game is really smooth and combat feels rather fluid.
I noticed a few changes to combat; the kick attack has been replaced with a guard break, this takes a second to pull off, so is more risky to attempt than the kick. Jump attacks are now easier to do, whilst jumping to cross ledges and platforms has been added (don't worry, they're easy to pull off).
Backstabs are harder to attempt - enemies guard their back aware of the fact that it's a vulnerable area, some even fall backwards on-top of you (dealing a lot of damage and leaving you in a vulnerable position on the floor).
Mobs will rush you, I found myself needing to lure them out one at a time - whilst in Dark souls 1, I would destroy whole groups of mobs at the same time, without taking damage. Combat seems harder, although I haven't died as much as I thought I would for my first three hours in the game. Mobs also vanish after you defeat them a few times, there is an item you can burn at a bonfire that will bring them back though (although they'll tougher), I assume this was to prevent grinding.
Monster design is still great, I loved the look of the first boss (I sense some Silent Hill inspiration with appearance of the boss).
Fast travel - yes, it's here. It was in Dark souls 1 after a certain point of the game, here you can teleport to any previous visited bonfires from the very start.
You can also leave messages from the start, you are given three lines this time, so you can say a great deal more. "Are you ready?...By the way don't give up..." was one of the messages I left.
You gain Estus after the tutorial, you are given just one to use with each visit to a bonfire. To gain more Estus you must locate rare Estus shards, you must hand them to a Maiden in the hub of Majula (A place similar to Firelink shrine, with more npcs) if you wish to gain more Estus. You also have lifegems, these heal you over a short period of time. They don't replenish at bonfires like Estus though, although they're a common drop. The maiden I spoke of is also the person you visit to level up, you can't do that at a bonfire anymore. Weapons will also break easy, I've broken my sword three times already, repair powder will be more useful this time around.
Torches have been added to the game, used to light dark passages and some enemies will even cower from the flame making it a good tactical tool.
Ring slots have been increased to four, belt slots to ten and weapon slots to three for each hand.
So far I am enjoying the game a great deal, and feel very positive about it. I haven't encountered a single problem. If you guys want any more specific info, please ask away. ![]()

Well if it's one thing these games have sucked at it's character creation. I'm glad they're started to get better. I've never been happy with the characters I make.

I think that's actually a good thing. It was funny 'cause in Demon Souls it really didn't matter if you were dead so everybody just played dead, lol. They keep making it harder to stay like that it seems. Plus, they know where to hit gamers now. Gamers wanna look cool so they made being Hollow really nasty. Very smart on their part.
So now you lose a good portion of health too? Crazy.
It sounds really good so far. I'm definitely gonna have to pick it up. I'll have to test the combat changes. I liked kicking a lot so we'll see how that goes.
I'm so swamped this month! Man, so many good games all the sudden.

The stages of hollow is a great feature, it also fits with the lore of the game. He people who say they gave up and stopped playing are the people who go full hollow (like the mindless hollow enemies). You can also be invaded as hollow!

Sadly, TItanfall has no single-player mode. I didn't know that and was terribly disappointed with it. I played three rounds and just shurt if off.
Happily, Thief is much more engaging than I though it would be. It's effectively distracting me from finishing ME2 (still
). I'm going to take another swing at DA on the PC, too. I was having a terrible time with my mage but I'm going to try assigning targeting to a mouse button and see if that helps. Playing it on console is so much easier for character control but accessing menus is so much better on the computer!

I tried Titanfall beta & ya, would have been great with a single player mode. I really don't like pvp games, i'm more a pve one, that's pretty much why ME3 multiplayer is the only fps/tps game I like to play.
I'm playing ME1 again, using an updated version of hi-res mod really great work retexturing the game, Sheploo look far better than in the previous version.
i'm also finishing some old Wii U games I had put on hold while playing FFXIV (since i've nothing to do in the game right now, bored for 3 weeks :/) like new super mario u XD

How about the performance? Can you compare it to the unmodded run?

I see no difference. good thing about this mod is that you can dl an "install" version, so it replace your files & don't need to use texmod, that's pretty much why I like it because when I use texmod there's a significant loss of fps. With install version, the game is running like the vanilla version. But if you like texmod or me3explorer, there's also a version for both.
I'm still hoping that someone will do the same for ME3, install version using the HD texture mod used with texmod/me3explorer (there's one with me3explorer, copy/pasting folders, but it's unfinished & the website is down for few month now :/).

Yeah, I've read about it. I wish you had linked that mod earlier, before I reached ME 3 and 'Priority: Citadel II' in my current PT. ![]()

I seriously can't believe it doesn't have a single player. I heard it doesn't even matching system so new people have to go against vets. It's a little nutty.

Lol! Same here. Lotta good stuff coming out now, but I can't keep up!
